Everything at the party was a disaster after the Earl got poison on this special occasion, the culprits are no other than the Baron, Baroness and Lady Niki towards that scene.

The two tried to blame Niki as she was the one who put some stuff at their winery before releasing it to the public, since her family grape farm is the main source of their products.

But little did they know that this was all arranged over 3 years now by the Earl, to help Velvet be free from his miserable living. Of course Darryl still asked his permission which Velvet at first didn't agree to, yet when he met Ant and purposely ran away.

He decided that this was the best option, so he could have a change of life and for him to start a brand new one with the person he truly loves along with his friends.

So the plan was simple, Niki, who was an old Maid that was hired by Darryl a long time ago ever since he saw her family farm being burned by some nobles so they could steal their land.

At that time they were filled with debt and if they cannot pay it, the punishment this time is unbelievable. That their entire family could be in prison as the children will be sold to some nobles or get killed.

Niki was devastated and offered herself to get sold, yet Darryl who stepped up and saw potential in her, which he reached out his hand that time, telling her that he will help her at any cost in exchange for only loyalty.

Niki never trusted any nobles as they are all the same, yet when Darryl took Niki into his care... That changed her view and dedicated her life to serve the Earl, because he not just helped her family get out from debt.

But also gave her power, and a title well deserving as countess. From that day on Niki also started a business on her own as a boutique for nobles. This was a good business because boutique's are usually good for getting information.

Where Niki was declared a very sweet person as the noble ladies trusted her and even said their secrets. Which was the best advantage for her since she is now declared as a spy and intel for the Earl.

So from that day forward Niki was part of the Halo loyalty for the syndicate. Which even if she gets caught, Techno and Darryl will have her back, so during that confession Niki did tell the truth yet Techno and Philza let her go since she is one of them.

While the Baron and Baroness are sentenced to death at dawn in the morning for also doing some illegal trades for their business. Therefore Velvet who is the only son has the legal possession and inheritance of his parents and will likely be the next Baron.
