Jazmine didn't have such a good childhood, she lost her parents, then she was left to nothing. She had to provide for herself which was a struggle because she had no support, no home to go to, or no family to talk to whenever she needed them. Jazmine wanted a stable happy life.
And luckily she found a job and was hired by a wealthy man who who needed two maids to clean up after his mess. At the same time he was able to provide for her. He gave her a home at the hotel, she was able to eat food and not have to worry about it probably being expired, and his other made became a mother figure.
Everything that the girl wanted in her life, she had it, and it was all thanks to James March. Even after finding out that he killed people for a living she tried to block out the warning signs but she couldn't. Jazmine had fell in love with the man because he was able to provide for her, he was able to give her a stable life and that was all she ever asked for.
No one else in her life helped her as much as he did, and for that she really appreciated the man.
But then again, the man she cared so much for spent his days with his wife or killing people who entered his hotel. It was all a nightmare to watch him love someone else while she loved him for giving her the life she wanted. He would never know that.
And James still didn't know that.
"Earth to Jazmine." Liz snapped in the girls face which made her jump. "Yeah?" She questioned. "I said, when are you going back to work? I hope it's not until a couple of hours because...I need to tell you something." Liz started and Jazmine pursed her lips. "I don't work anymore. I got fired." She said blandly, Liz laughed, but her smile faded, noticing that Jazmine wasn't laughing. "Wait, you're serious?" Liz asked and Jazmine nodded. "Yup. Fired in my afterlife..would you believe it?" She scoffed.
"Imagine if I never killed myself, Liz. I would've been roaming free around the world.." She started to feel like all her choices in the past were the wrong ones. Liz could tell that regret was taking over, the woman felt bad for her.
"Jazmine...honey." Liz reached over and placed her hand on top of Jazmine's. "You just need time to accept this life. I know it's shitty, but it'll get better. You don't have to work anymore, you can spend your time anywhere around here..which might suck. But you can always hang out with me..become my co-bartender." She said and Jazmine laughed lightly. "Yeah, being a bartender doesn't sound too bad. Now, tell about this important thing." Jazmine changed the conversation.
Liz spent her time ranting to Jazmine and all Jazmine did was listen and commented on what she felt like was necessary. All the time wasted and Jazmine didn't know what to do. It was a new feeling, a new feeling of freedom and curiosity.
As Liz poured at drink for this woman, another man came and sat a couple of chairs away from her.
"Are you an outsider or did you actually get a room here?" Liz asked the man since she hadn't seen what direction the man had came from. But then again, she didn't remember seeing him check in.
"If I answer the question will that make me get kicked out?" He asked, Jazmine chuckled, looking over to the man, noticing his dark brown fluffy hair. "No, we don't kick outsiders out of here, we just have to make sure you won't sneak around and find a free room.
Or what Jazmine like to think is that they had to make sure that a random stranger won't roam around and end up going missing, if not missing, seeing something they shouldn't.
It was easier for a tourist to be killed, usually because their families are in a completely different state, city or country, and once they're killed it's easier to just make it seem like they're staying at the hotel for a bit longer, then a bit longer turns into "im staying out here." But in reality they're stuck in the hotel for life.
For others who aren't tourists, for locals, it's different. They usually live around the area with families or they'd have friends who'd want to hang out or check in. It was a complicated mess and they'd rather kill tourists.
Jazmine thought it would be better if they killed no one and finally gave Hazel a break. Not only because Hazel needed a break, but these people shouldn't have died.
"Jazmine." She had been getting called by Liz all day because she'd be daydreaming about what ever it was. "Sorry." She muttered, looking over at Liz but Liz cleared her throat and looked over in the direction of the man with a drink in his hand. "No, it's good. I was just asking a dumb question anyway." The man said, gaining Jazmine's interests. "No, what was it. I'm sorry—I'm listening now." She spoke honestly. "I was just wondering if you were doing anything tonight.." He started.
Jazmine looked over at Liz with sort of widened eyes. Liz sent the woman a subtle nod.
But in stuck in this stupid hotel!
She wished she had telepathy with Liz.
"No, I'm not, actually." She said, smiling softly. "Great, do you maybe wanna head out after this drink?" He questioned whilst raising the glass in his hand. "I can't leave.." Jazmine blurted, but calmly. "Why not?" He asked, smiling softly. "Well..." Jazmine cleared her throat, trying to think of a lie but nothing seemed to pop up.
"She has this condition—it's more of an allergy. The pollen that's outside could be very deadly to her around this time of the year..so she chooses to stay in here." Liz spoke for the girl, Jazmine's head fell to her hand. "Its embarrassing, I know." Jazmine played along.
"Having a serious allergy isn't embarrassing. How about we just stay in here?" He asks her. "I'd liked that very much." She said. "Great. Im Alex." He spoke. "I'm Jazmine."
It felt weird, talking to another man who wasn't James or another man who didn't walk around this hotel, felt strange. A good strange.
Yet she felt guilty.
