Personality: when Black Diamond was born he was a brave, sweet boy who was very empathetic towards those he was close to, such as the other diamond. He cared deeply for his gems and the diamond. Black Diamond grew up to be a cold, cynical man who constantly wore a neutral face. Growing up alone stunted his social skills, and he no longer expressed his emotions freely. Despite all of these changes, he still viewed Corteo as a brother and felt that he had to protect him. He also retained his sweet tooth, especially enjoying canned pineapples. He also is shown to be cruel and capable of cold-blooded murder at times. He possesses a sense of humor that ranges between deadpan and sarcasm. In order to take his revenge, he was willing to do anything and kill anyone without showing sympathy. He is a very skilled manipulator and has very good control of his emotions. He expressed many times that without his revenge, he had nothing to live for. Black Diamond has been told multiple times that he is terrible at driving a car. Black Diamond is also very intelligent, capable of getting himself and jet out of tight spots by outwitting their enemies and is a master manipulator. This skill can be seen very clearly in the Frate arc where everyone, including his allies, were practically dancing to his tunes.

As a diamond, Black Diamond is one of the most powerful gems in the universe. He possesses standard Gem abilities, but since he is a Diamond, his abilities are expected to be much greater than other Gems.
Natural Abilities
Enhanced Strength: Black Diamond is notable for his incredible strength, which he uses in combat. With the press of his finger, he poofed a Zircon Gem. He could lift a finger of Blue Diamond's ship with one hand, freeing her, and punch his way out of his warship. His strength is enough to push Steven into the ground and knock him out despite him taking shelter behind a large shield, which attacks as destructive as a warship beam had failed to so much as move in the past.
