He takes actions based on whatever catches his interest. He has shown some aspects of greed as well as selfish desire; however, he will stay his hand if he is given a good reason to stop. He has a strange habit of making singing tones while talking, which he developed at a young age after he was adopted by Grunkle Stan. Though he can be selfish and greedy, he is also shown to be caring, which is shown when he rushed toward Mabel to save her despite being a "bad person".

Human-Ghost Physiology: David possesses a variety of supernatural powers and abilities due to his unique physiology. The powers and abilities that Danny and his future self possess; although the former has comparatively lower intensity of these powers due to being young. However, as the series progresses, David becomes more powerful and stronger.

Supernatural Strength: David possesses superhuman strength in his ghost form, David has been shown to be able to lift a school bus (which weighs 12-15 tons) with ease. He has also displayed enough strength to punch a giant ghost dragon across an area as well as knock it down and hurl it in mid air.
