Ahana POV
The rains healed us in a way we did not expect, though we were cold and our clothes stuck to our bodies, the solace, and warmth we got from each other was quite comforting.
We entered the house, the house was dark, and we no longer needed the bodyguards or the security, we knew we were safe now. As soon as we entered the house and closed the door, the warm moonlight cascading to the drawing area gave it a perfect ambiance for the moment.
When I closed the door and locked it, I turned back to see Atharva looking at me intensely, he brushed off the wet hair from my forehead and picked me up in his arms, and took me to my room. He asked me to change and come to the garden after that, I walked and wore a crop top, matching it with loose but cute pajamas.
I went into the garden and saw it decorated with fairy lights, there was a garden waterfall by the side,he picked that spot to have dinner, and there was a mat spread on the lawn with all my favorite food. We sat there enjoying our dinner when he pushed a box toward me, when I took the box out there was another box in that, this idea made me smile. I patiently opened the box and saw that there was a diamond ring in the color of rose gold, with writing engraved under it saying "Will you marry me?"
As soon as I saw that I leaped up from my place and fell into his arms with excitement. He held me close to him, balancing me on top of himself, while we both lay together on the lawn. He pulled my chin up and made me look into his eyes
Atharva: So, what is your answer sweetheart?
Me: You are not proposing to me out of pity right? That I was supposed to be a mother to your child?
Atharva: You know, you are a smart woman but sometimes you say the dumbest of things. I loved you and I still love you. I wanted to get married the day we consummated our relationship but what to do? Situations were our enemies, I don't want to delay making you mine any longer. Mom, already knows that I am proposing today and she already gave us her blessings. She said that she will be here by the day we get married.
Me: You still want to get married to me .. after everything? I was somebody's wife, now I am a widow. Do you think your mom won't have a problem? If not today she might have it later ...
Atharva: Listen, love is how you understand each other, though you were married you were not in that with your heart and soul. When you are with me, you are physically, mentally, and emotionally there, am I right?
Me: Yes
Atharva: Then I don't have any problem, I should not have left you then and I should not have let you move on but I was immature and I wanted you to be happy. Now I learned a lesson, you never leave your loved ones behind if you know it's a real thing, you hold on to each other, and fight together to overcome the situation. Partly I am to be blamed for our situation, now I would like to correct that, so Ahana will you marry me?
Me: Yes, thousand times yes
He kissed me on my forehead and we both lay in each other arms after which we went inside as it was beginning to rain. I wanted to have some hot white chocolate and when I pulled myself up on my toes to find the ingredients, he was sitting by the kitchen island, he saw my scar. The place where they cut open during my operation.
He came close to me and lay his hands on that scar
Atharva: Is this scar from the time ??
Me: Yes
Atharva: You know in a way I am thankful that you had that operation
Me: Why?
Atharva: Because I met you again because of that
Saying that he pulled me close to him and kissed me softly on my lips while caressing the side of my hips before I could react I was thrown over his shoulder and he made sweet, long, and passionate love to me after which we envisioned our future.
A few days later
We got ready and we went to confront the guy who played a villain in our story. It is the principal who motivated and encouraged me in my career but made me separate from my love. When he saw both of us together, he broke down and told us how he always saw me as his child and as he did not get married and had children, I was his child who he mentored and wanted me to be his successor. When he got to know our love story, he didn't act upon it as I was still driven and motivated but when Atharva wanted to take me with him, he acted out on his own selfish deeds. Though he was my well-wisher he killed my dreams to make his dreams come true.
Though I was angry at him I thanked him for motivating him but I can never forgive or forget what he did to us.
We walked out of there thinking never to look back and live a happy life forever
