Chapter 22

Ahana POV

You know we all have some transition phases in life through which we learn a lot some times through bad times and some times its good times. Now I was in a phase where I realized I have strong and pure feelings for my dear friend Atharva, I don't know what he thinks about me but I was mentally in a space where I was happy with his attention, stealing glances, blushing and day dreaming every now and then. I was acting like a love sick puppy following him around every day. With the exams starting soon we were preparing together but with the stress of scoring well and stealing glances of my first love I had an another challenge, to keep his admirers at bay, when we were friends I used to have my own fun with the proposals but now I felt like I was envying all those women who happily confessed their attraction without analyzing the repucussions. I started having those feelings of jealousy creep over me. 

At first I told them he was in love with someone else but looking at the whole women flock trying I had to up my game, I told them he was in love with someone who belonged to the same gender as him. Yeah, I lied conveniently and I felt guilty whenever I saw him which is everyday. The one good thing was the women left him alone and were spotted mending their broken hearts and moving on with others. I consoled myself saying that I only helped them move on rather than running behind him and getting rejected. 

Exams came and we were both focussed on that studying and preparing while writing the exams with hopes. I was a person who never asked for anything from others, if I felt like watching a movie I would watch it alone, if I wanted to visit a spa I would go alone but now I had new dream. One evening after our study hours I surprised myself when I asked him if we can go out to eat, for which he gave a charming smile and compiled. Next day it was a long walk and the next day it was a trip to our favorite chaat corner and having my favorite Pani Puri, It was my love.

The days were going well, we both did well with exams and he was writing his competitive tests after that. I stayed back to support him if he needed that. I took a vow not to disturb him but, we ended up chatting or going out for refreshing walks in between his preparation. All was going good, until one day it changed.

We planned to go to a movie today but he never made it, he dint message or call me. I waited the whole day, later I was worried. I dropped by and asked his hostel mates who were staying back but they said they dint see him. The hostels had its set of rules but still students can visit each other, either a guy or a girl to each other's rooms until curfew. So I dropped in next day at afternoon before my shift and knocked on the door, when Atharva opened the door he looked different, he had red eyes, his hair was not in place, he had a frown on his face, looking like he was in pain. 

Me: Atharva, what happened to you ? Are you sick? 

Oh my god, I put my hand on his forehead but he didn't have fever. I took a comforting sigh 

Me: Thank god you are okay, I dint see you for a day and I could not get in touch too. Did you have food? Come on, get ready and we will go have food okay?

Atharva: We dint meet for a day, what is the big deal in that ? Why were you worried?

Me: Atharva ... We were supposed to meet right? so I was ...

Atharva: So ? Ahana tell me something, do you think there is a rule that we have to be together everyday ? We have to meet everyday ? Hmm ?

Me: Atharva, there isn't any rule but ...

Atharva: But what? Why exactly are you after me? lets go here, lets go there. Lets do this, lets do that. Do you think I am your puppet that I have to listen everything you say?

Me: Atharva ....

Atharva: Yes that's my name, are you going to say anything other than my name ? Tell me something I have to follow you everywhere, you decide where to go and you decide to take a decision for me.
