a/n - leading up to the 🌶️ yall, next chapter is pretty spicy...

Ellie walks out of the elevator with a basket of treats in one hand and a book in the other. She was early, and she didn't want to rush them in their meeting, so she brought something to make the time go faster. Besides, she loved to read, but almost never had the time.

She goes straight into their office past the oblivious receptionist and rounds the desk, putting the basket onto the desk and setting up the food. She's immersed in her work, and doesn't see the figure moving closer in the corner of her eye until she's grabbed at the back of her neck and pushed down onto the desk, making her gasp at the unexpected cold of the marble in contrast with the warmth of the calloused hand.

"Hello, little liar." A deep voice above her causes shivers to wrack through her body, and then her mind catches up with her. She knows that voice. She stills, remembering the events of last night.

She can still feel the scratches and bruises he left on her. Luckily, she's an expert in covering these things up, and most were in places that aren't visible to most people; upper arms, stomach, and both of her thighs. She does have a bruise on her neck, which was undoubtedly harder to cover up, but she was able to correct it eventually. The pressure he's putting on her neck right now doesn't make the bruise feel any better.

His hand glides from the back of her neck, to the front, pulling her up so that she's parallel to his chest. He leans down to whisper in her ear, "I thought I'd never see you again, let alone within 24 hours. Tell me, why do you keep popping up in my buildings?"

'His buildings?' She thought. No, that couldn't be right. He must be a crazy person.

When she doesn't respond, he puts a little more pressure on her neck, not enough to choke her, but enough to make breathing just a little harder. She squirms, and he doesn't relent, gripping tighter. Unlike Alex and Enzo, he only sported one single silver ring on his right hand, and she could feel the cold of it pushing into her.

"Ellie, we heard from the receptionist that you arrived early, you didn't have to-" Alex and Enzo walked into the office, standing in the doorway watching the scene. Vince still held Ellie in a chokehold against the desk, her hands trying to push his hand off, her breathing shortening by the second. Alex pauses in his sentence, looking between the two of them, shocked at the scene. He wanted Vince to meet Ellie, but he couldn't imagine how they got into this position.

Enzo reacts faster, growling out, "Let her go, Vince. Now." His hands are clenched into a fist, and when Vince lets out a puff of air that unknowingly causes goosebumps on the back of Ellie's neck, and lets her go, she gasps for breath, slumping against the table, her arms holding her up.

Enzo looks like he's holding back saying more, so Alex says softly, "Lili, come here please." She continues to take deep breaths with small tears in her eyes as she walks over to Alexander. He brings her into a hug immediately, cooing at her, trying to calm her down as Enzo and Vince stare at one another.

Alexander pushes her back to look at her, lightly gripping her chin and pushing it up, looking at her neck intently. His own jaw clenches, and something dark crosses his eyes, looking above Ellie's head towards Vince. "You bruised her."

Vince laughs shortly. "Yeah, I did. I'm not the bad guy for wondering why a random person is in my office."

Alexander scoffs. "You did more than wonder."

Ellie whispers, although the other three are still able to hear it, "Who is he?"

Vince responds with a smirk, rolling up his white button up to his forearms as he speaks, "Nice to meet you. I'm Vince, the V in AVE Foundation. And who are you?"
