Where Atsumu and Hinata are dating but Oikawa is Hinata's bestie
Warning: Timeskip Spoilers!
"Shoyo, wake up."
"Mhm," Hinata mumbled through a yawn, burying his head in his pillow. It was a weekend, so why did he still have to wake up early? Even more so since he'd stayed up late the night before chatting with Oikawa.
"If yer don't wake up, I'm gonna eat all of yer breakfast." Atsumu warned, nudging him gently.
Hinata groaned in protest, flipping over onto his back. "You're evil," he grumbled, pulling his blanket over his head to block out the sunlight streaming in from the window.
"When it comes to food, there ain't no evil, Shoyo-kun." Atsumu corrected, tugging the blanket off him. "Come on, get up~ it's already ten o'clock. We've to leave soon"
He pulled Hinata up into a sitting position, earning a whine from the younger boy.
"Seriously, who asked you to stay up so late?"
The second voice came from the doorway. It had an extremely familiar annoyed tone to it.
Sakusa.
"Oikawa-san said he wanted to talk to me." Hinata mumbled, rubbing his eyes as he finally dragged himself off the bed.
He trudged out of the room past Sakusa, who was leaning against the doorway, arms crossed.
Sakusa stared at the oversized hoodie Hinata was wearing. His eyes flickered to Atsumu, who just sighed, rubbing the back of his head as he followed Hinata out of the room.
"You should get some of your own clothes, Hinata," he said.
"I know..." Hinata sniffed. "But his clothes are nice."
"Who knows how dirty those are?" Sakusa muttered, his voice laced with disgust. "I don't understand you guys."
Atsumu stuck his tongue out at Sakusa. "Jealous much, Omi-Omi?" he teased. "I'm sure Shoyo-kun wouldn't mind using yer clothes if ya weren't such a germaphobe."
Sakusa rolled his eyes at Atsumu, walking off to the kitchen. Atsumu swore he heard Sakusa say something along the lines of "childish" or "disgusting".
...
"Oikawa should be arriving soon, shouldn't he?" Hinata asked excitedly, bounding up and down.
"Calm down a little, Sho-kun. Yer still a public figure, ya know." Atsumu said. And it was true: there were already a few people casting glances at them as they walked towards the arrival hall. But really, he was a little annoyed at how excited Hinata was to see that guy.
Hinata pouted, pulling down his cap to hide his signature orange hair - it was what made him so recognisable.
"Tch, why is Oikawa-san so popular?" he grumbled, trying to look over the crowd of fans lining each side, waiting for him to appear. Sakusa had bailed immediately after seeing the number of people, saying that he'd wait for them in the car instead. "He really makes life difficult for us."
"Well, that's about right." Atsumu muttered under his breath.
"Ah! I think that's him! Is it? Atsumu-san, can you see him? I can't really-" Hinata was jumping up and down furiously, trying to get a better look. But just from how noisy it had become, there was no doubt he had arrived.
Hinata squeezed his way through the crowd, though most people let them pass after seeing Atsumu behind him.
It was pretty much the main reason why Hinata wanted to bring Atsumu there.
"Oikawa-san! Hi!" Hinata called, heading over to the tall brunette.
"Sho-chan! I feel like I haven't seen you in years!" Oikawa wrapped him in a tight hug, much to Atsumu's annoyance.
Hinata pulled away, and Oikawa glanced up at Atsumu, who was outrightly glaring at him.
So much for the PR talk they had a mere few weeks ago.
"Tch, if you don't like me that much you didn't have to come. I would've much preferred spending time alone with my Shoyo anyway." Oikawa stuck out his tongue at Atsumu, wrapping an arm around Hinata possessively.
Okay...
Hinata hadn't thought about the "setter rivalry" thing that seemed to happen everywhere.
Were all setters that... competitive?
"Let's go, shall we? Omi-san is still waiting for us." Hinata said awkwardly, trying to ease the tension between the two.
"Yeah, yeah." Atsumu said, tugging on Hinata's arm to pull him away from Oikawa. "Don't want to keep him waiting, do we?"
Oikawa smirked.
Atsumu shot him a glare.
Hinata gulped.
Maybe this hadn't been the best idea of the century.
...
Hinata scooted closer to Sakusa, who cleared his throat, clearly telling him to keep his distance.
But Hinata did not, and could not, stand being within 1 meter of those two.
"Can you, uh, do something?" he whispered to Sakusa. "It's way too awkward."
Sakusa sighed, running a hand through his hair. "That's what happens when you put two narcissists together," he said, before raising his voice to add, "Stop being childish, Miya."
Atsumu whipped his head to face him. "Omi! Yer supposed to support me! I'm yer teammate, not him!" He pointed an accusing finger at Oikawa, who snickered.
Hinata winced. Sakusa obviously would only add fuel to the fire, especially with matters regarding Atsumu.
He should've called... Never mind, Bokuto wouldn't be able to do anything either.
"How's Argentina?" he asked in an attempt to smooth things over.
Oikawa flashed a smile at him. "All's well. We'll kick your butts next game, that's for sure."
Atsumu scoffed. Very loudly.
"I saw your last game." Hinata continued, changing the topic. "That quick set you did was so cool. And your serves, those look so nasty. And- and-"
Of course, whenever it came to volleyball, Hinata kind of got way too excited. He basically went on a rampage on how absolutely amazing the game was, how amazing Oikawa's sets were, how well-played those setter dumps were, how-
It never ended.
And Oikawa was enjoying the praising session a lot.
Atsumu, on the other hand, wasn't.
"It reminds me of when we met in Rio. Damn, I wish I could play with you again." Hinata ended, his eyes practically sparkling with awe.
"Hey, Shoyo-kun. Even if you wanted to say that, you didn't hafta say that in front of me, did ya?" Atsumu asked.
Oikawa shrugged, leaning back in his chair. "It's not my fault I'm such a good setter," he taunted.
"Ya jerk-"
Sakusa nudged Hinata to divert his attention from the two who had started quarrelling again. "Iwaizumi said he's coming over," he said.
"Ah, that's great! I bet he's really excited to see Oikawa."
Sakusa decided not to say anything about that.
