Where Oikawa finds Hinata camping out at a convenience store, and discovers many things about him

Oikawa stifled a yawn, trudging into the convenience store. It was already past midnight, but he'd felt like getting a light snack to eat. And since the store was quite near to his house, he figured it wouldn't hurt to go.

He picked out a few bags of chips and a bottle of soda, plopping it onto the counter.

And that was when he caught sight of an oddly familiar orange-haired tangerine, just sitting behind the counter (on the floor), dozing off.

The cashier followed his gaze, then said, "Poor kid got kicked out of his house. I would bring him back if I could, but..."

Oikawa's eyebrows shot up in surprise. "Kicked out?" he asked.

"Yup. Family issues. This isn't the first time he's staying here either." The cashier shook his head. "Ten dollars."

Oikawa handed him some cash, his eyes still lingering on Hinata. He shouldn't be out by himself so late at night, even if he was here.

Then again, they weren't on such close terms that he'd be comfortable with staying at his house.

"Do you know him?" the cashier asked. "If you do, it'd be great if he could stay over. Would be much safer than staying with a stranger like me."

Oikawa hesitated slightly, but before he could even reply, the cashier had turned to wake Hinata up.

"Is your shift over?" Hinata mumbled, rubbing his eyes. He looked up, squinting at the bright light that hit his eyes.

And froze.

"Heya, chibi-chan." Oikawa said, waving to him.

Hinata scrambled to get up, his face tinting red with embarrassment. "O-oikawa san?"

"Hey, Shoyo-kun, you should go with your friend. It's much safer than hanging around here." The cashier said, ruffling his hair. "I'm sure he doesn't mind, right?"

"No, of course not." Oikawa agreed. He did have a few doubts in his head, but just looking at Hinata's current state made it too cruel for him to voice them out.

"I'm fine." Hinata quickly said, actively avoiding Oikawa's eyes.

Oikawa frowned, resting his arms on the countertop. "I really don't mind, chibi-chan."

"Yeah. You should go with him." The cashier added, giving him a gentle nudge.

Hinata's gaze flickered to Oikawa hesitantly, who gave him another reassuring smile.

"Come on, you'll be fine." the cashier said, leading him out from behind the counter, handing his bag over to him.

Hinata looked visibly flustered, and very awkward as well. It would be mildly amusing under normal circumstances, but this was anything but normal.

"Don't worry, chibi-chan. I don't bite." Oikawa teased, taking his bag out of his hands and slinging it over his shoulder. He grabbed his snacks, wrapping an arm around the first year and leading him out of the store.

...

"There's nobody at home, so just make yourself comfortable." Oikawa said, plopping onto his chair. He'd pulled out a futon for Hinata, but, well, he wasn't planning to sleep just yet. And that meant that Hinata also wasn't comfortable going to sleep either.

Hinata sat on the futon, looking around Oikawa's room curiously. There were certainly a lot of volleyball-related things, and there were so many awards lining his bookshelf.
