"Fuck you!"
Ranboo barely had time to close the door to the guest bedroom before Tommy had him pinned against the wall.
"I can't believe you! And you act like nothing happened as soon as my brothers walk in!"
Ranboo winced, Tommy's grip becoming tighter with each word.
"T-Tommy—"
Tommy pushed him further into the wall, his hands still holding onto Ranboo despite Ranboo's attempts to pry them off. Tommy locked the door with one hand, allowing Ranboo to push him off, but Tommy quickly grabbed Ranboo's hands.
Ranboo gritted his teeth, trying to bear the pain, but Tommy dug his nails into the brunette's injuries. Ranboo yelped and tried to pull away, but it only resulted in more pain. Ranboo slid down the wall a little bit as he squirmed from the feeling.
"Tommy, stop," Ranboo grunted.
Tommy wasn't listening, or maybe he was and was just really pissed this time because he applied more force to Ranboo's hands. Ranboo bit his tongue to stop himself from crying out, a shooting pain going through both of his hands. He could hear his heartbeat in his ears, anger sparking inside his chest, but he refused to entertain Tommy's twisted game.
Tommy was still silent, his eyes locked onto Ranboo.
"Hit me, bitch." Tommy finally snapped, releasing his death grip on Ranboo.
"Wh—"
"Hit me!" Tommy shouted, shoving Ranboo into the wall again.
"Tommy, I-"
"Oh come on, don't pretend that you don't want to. We've fought enough times for me to be able to recognize that look in your eyes. You wanna punch me so badly. So do it."
Ranboo stood up, his fists clenched at his sides.
"Why do you do this?" Ranboo asked, gesturing at Tommy and wincing from the pain the motion caused his hand. "What makes you go from kind and caring to aggressive and violent? We were fine just a half an hour ago. And now you want to start a fight?"
Tommy narrowed his eyes, but he didn't say anything. Ranboo took a step closer.
"Tommy, why do you hate me?" Ranboo asked.
"You're trying to take Tubbo from me!"
"No I'm not! Tommy, I'm trying to be his friend! I–I'm trying to be your friend!" Ranboo shouted, shaking Tommy by the shoulders. "Why are you so stubborn? Just- let me-" Ranboo huffed, bowing his head, his words failing him.
He sighed and let go of Tommy, taking a step back.
"I don't want to hurt you, Tommy. You just make me mad sometimes."
"Finish what you were going to say." Tommy growled, refusing to look at Ranboo.
"I...what—?"
"Let you what? Ruin my friendship with Tubbo?"
"No, I—!"
"Then what?!" Tommy yelled, snatching Ranboo's wrist and pulling him closer. "What do you want!?"
"You!" Ranboo blurted, Tommy's hostility causing his mind to panic. Tommy promptly dropped him, jolting back in shock.
Crap fix it fix it fix it.
"I just want you... to be my friend. I want you to treat me how you treat Bill, or Aimsey, or Tubbo. I- I want what they have with you. I have since I met you," Ranboo backed up, suddenly wanting an escape from the situation. "And for the first year I knew you, I thought it might be possible. At least back then you didn't hate me. But then high school came and you just detested my very presence."
"Because you changed." Tommy muttered.
"Because of you."
Tommy's head shot up, his eyes wide with confusion.
"What?" The blonde whispered, his crossed arms falling limp at his sides.
Ranboo shook his head.
"It doesn't matter."
"You changed because of me?" Tommy asked, furrowing his brow.
Ranboo exhaled a long breath, preparing to explain to Tommy.
"When we first met... I wanted to be your friend, but I knew it was impossible. You were the c— the rich, popular kid, and I... wasn't. But you were so nice and smart and funny, so I decided to try to gain your friendship by bettering myself. But well," Ranboo laughed, looking away, "you can see that that didn't work out as planned."
"I... like you better now." Tommy quietly admitted.
The American blinked rapidly, a pool of indistinguishable feelings flooding him.
"You... then why are you mean to me now and not back then?" Ranboo asked, not sure how long Tommy would keep this wall down.
"Be... because now you're... now you are less of a wimp. You stick up for yourself. You're confident. You're smart and goodlooking, and you know it." Tommy mumbled.
Ranboo tilted his head, trying to mask the flittering of his heart. Tommy glared at him, rebuilding his defences.
"But you're still a fucking conceded prick," Tommy barked, shoving at Ranboo's chest, but not as hard as he had been. "And I still don't trust you."
Ranboo sighed, hope filling his chest. That he can change with time; at least he didn't say he hated him.
"That's fair. We aren't on trusting terms yet." Ranboo said with a shrug.
"And we never will be."
Ranboo smiled to himself.
"We'll see."
