Chapter 17 - Another Surprise

" Keith's the only one who says my full name.

Not anymore..."

"Hi Yna!" the guy greeted with a bright smile.

"Oh, hi James," Yna greeted back.

"Big brother? What are you doing here? I thought you're not coming?" Stella asked James.

"I wanted to surprise the birthday girl. Happy birthday Yna. Here's a little gift," James handed out a small box.

Yna opened the box and saw a silver bracelet with her initials on it.

"Wow! It's so cute! Thank you James!" she thanked him.

Keith felt the same weird feeling as Yna felt earlier. He can't stand to look at both of them together. He thought to himself, "What if..."

"Aww! It's pretty alright! I wish Keith would give me a gift like that," Jillian said.

Keith just stayed silent. After a few seconds of silence, he said,

"Let's go."

The guys arrived at the hill with an old oak tree perched at the top. A picnic table was prepared with foods and drinks.

"Tadah!" Irma said out loud.

"Wow! You preapred this?" Yna asked.

"I had a little help from the others," Irma said, acting humbly.

"Thank you very much guys!" Yna thanked her friends.

" Come on! Let's eat!" Steven and Denver said together.

After eating their snacks, Stella, Irma, Ariana, and Jillian played volleyball. Denver, Stella, and James went to town to get Yna's cake. Keith and Yna were the one's left at the table, sitting opposite each other.

"Happy birthday," Keith coldly greeted her.

"Ahm, thanks," Yna thanked and looked at him. Unfortunately, their eyes didn't met. Keith was busy on his phone. Yna just looked at the others playing volleyball.

Minutes passed but the two didn't talk to each other. Until...

"Tonight. 7:30. At the park. I'll be waiting." Keith suddenly said.

"Wh—-What?"

Keith put his phone on his pocket and stood up.

"Remember what I said," he said then walked away.

"Hey Keith! Wait up!" Jillian ran after her boyfriend.

"What's with him?" Irma asked.

Yna just looked at the two walk down the hill. She thought to herself,

"Was he serious?"

"Woo! I'm so full!",Steven said out loud.

"And earlier today you were saying my cooking sucks. You little..." Irma spancked him on the arm.

"Ouch! I was just joking!"

The others just laughed at them. Stella said, "You two can be good couples, you know."

"NO WAY!" Irma and Steven said simultaneously.

They just laughed at the two yelling at each other.

At the middle of the fun, Yna remembered Keith's statement:

"Tonight. 7:30. At the park. I'll be waiting."

She looked at her watch and it was still 3:30 pm. She thought it was still early and shrugged away the thought.

The guys didn't noticed that it was now late. The sun set and mr. moon is up in the sky. At the middle of their topic, Ariana yawned.

"Yawwwn!"

"Ariana is sleepy," James stated.

"Oh! It's already so late! Let's call it a day," Denver said.

"Yeah. I'm tired," Stella exclaimed.

"Let's start cleaning up," Irma requested.

After cleaning up the area and packing their things up, they all went down the hill. "Hey, Yn. Who's going to walk you home?" Ariana asked.

"Oh,it's okay. I can manage," Yna insisted.

"I can walk her home," James suggested.

"Our house is on the right. We'll be going now." Stella,Ariana, and Denver said goodbye.

"Ours in on the left. Come on hungry bear," Irma dragged Steven.

"Bye you two!" Steven  said goodbye.

"So,it's just you and me,huh," James sighed.

Yna didn't answer and continued to walk.

They walked in silence.To break the silence, James spoke.

"Look at that. We did really enjoy ourselves out there. It's already 9:00 pm."

9:00pm...

Yna remembered:

"Tonight. 7:30. At the park. I'll be waiting."

"Go on James."

"Why? Where are you going?"

"I just forgot something. See you. Bye!" Yna said and ran back.

She thought, "What the...How could I forget. He can't still be there. Or can he?"

She arrived at the park and looked around. At the bench in front of the fountain, sat a guy. She slowly approched the bench, hoping for the worse that Keith's going to be mad at her for being too late.

"Keith?"

Keith faced her and suddenly held her in his arms. Yna was stunned.

"I thought something bad happened to you."

"We didn't notice the time. Sorry."

"You should have texted or called me! I was so worried that I thought something bad happened to you on the way! I thought you got hit by a car! I thought you were kidnapped! I thought you were..."

"I am sorry."

Keith exhaled.

"Nevermid." Keith sat on the bench. Yna sat beside him.

"I am so sorry for letting you wait this late."

"It's okay. At least you came safe."

Yna noticed two papers on his hands. "What are those?", she asked.

He didn't respond. He grabbed her arm and said,

"Come on. Thanks to you,we're late for our date."

"D-date!?"
