The other egos came out of hiding as the thing disappeared and Jackie left to do his hero work.

What had just happened... Well, anybody with half a braincell could see that the timing with the news and Jackie getting kicked out was too odd to be just a coincidence.

But anybody with a whole braincell- in this case, Jameson- plus Robbie, who understood the ghost's heart and could just straight out feel others' emotions... Could see that Jackie had a glitter of understanding and a bit of gratefulness in his eyes when he was locked out.

They were making progress!

...

Just not fast enough...

Marvin had the means to get rid of the ghost now, so even if these understandings became more frequent, they were more likely to just finish it off than anything.

And not only that, but it seemed that 'Sam' was in a bit of a mood today.

When Marvin came out of his hiding spot, he checked to make sure he still had the book- unfortunately, making it visible.

Suddenly a knife launched that way, grazing Marvin's cheek and piercing the wall behind him. "WHAT THE FOOK?!" The magician bristled, hissing like a cat. Jameson's favorite vase smashed on the floor, the broken shards lifting and shooting out towards Marvin.

With a flick of his wrist, the magician spelled the shards away. "Oh, c'mon! What crawled up yer arse this morning?! You're seriously getting mad over a book?!"

"You haven't...

A whispering voice sounded just behind Marvin's ear, and he turned around only to see nothing.

"Learned..."

He turned back around, noting how violently the lights were flashing.

"Your LESSON!"

The bookshelf  behind Marvin- what he had been hiding behind- suddenly leaned forward. The magician could hear and feel it, trying to run away. But it was too quick and too close, beginning to knock him to the floor...

When Henrik swept in and pulled him away.

"Oh thank god!" Chase called out in relief at the doctor's fast reaction. "HOW ABOUT VE DON'T ANTAGONIZE ZHE DEMON CHILD??" Henrik hissed, smacking the magician lightly on the head for upsetting the ghost. Why he called it the 'child', Marvin didn't know, nor did he care.

"We're not out of the woods yet!" Marvin yelped, gesturing to the kitchen, where more silverware was lifting into the air. "Just give it the damn book!" Chase growled, making Marvin toss the thing over towards the dining room.

The silverware fell back down, clattering noisily but harmlessly on the floor. The book lifted up and was flipped open, being searched through for the spell Marvin was supposed to use later.

But Marvin had stumbled across one useful spell in his search for the poltergeist stuff...

With a rumbling growl, the mage's eyes went black, and he shouted out a spell. 'Sam' screeched, showing its form again as it dropped the book. But the next second, it was gone. All it had left behind in the house was a lingering feeling of agony and misery.
