"Are you sure you weren't hallucinating? The cameras see nothing there, Red." Marcin tapped his fingers against the desk, deep in thought.
"Of course, they didn't see a fucking ghost! But I know what I saw! The bastard was standing before me for a whole-ass second!" Jackie huffed defensively. "In that case, it can't be the demon." Marvin facepalmed, "we're back to square one..."
"Why can't it be the demon?" Jackie asked, thinking it would make perfect sense. "Because demons can't become ghosts, dumbass. And even if that thing wasn't an actual demon, it STILL can't become a ghost because it's... I don't know how to explain this..." Marvin sighed, fishing for words.
"Didn't you see how it was? It's one thing to say a part of the demon's soul is able to feel compassion, but it's another to say it's capable of being a good person. It was playing with JJ and Robbie, making breakfast, teasing us, and it even let us out of the house. Point is, it can't be a ghost- well, this ghost, at least. So, if there is a ghost here, it's probably not someone we know." Marvin explained.
"But the thing is, I'm having hard time believing that this is a ghost in the first place. Even as a poltergeist, it shouldn't be as active or lively as it is. And we don't have a reason to be haunted! It's around 24/7, it can do multiple things at once, and it can control the whole damn house when it's mad! If that thing is a poltergeist, we've pissed off somebody we shouldn't have- and we don't even know who it is!... But if you're saying it's not a curse, then..." The magician sighed, trailing off.
Jackie didn't mind, used to his brother not finishing his sentences. As long as he gets his point across, it doesn't matter. "...Well, your spell didn't work either way. If it doesn't show its face again, we'll just call it a curse and work from there. If it does... How do you even get rid of a poltergeist?"
"Dunno... But we might just find out, apparently." Marvin sighed, getting up from Henrik's desk. "We know one thing either way: these cameras are utterly useless!"
You can't see a curse through cameras, and certainly not a poltergeist...
Most of the time.
But they were fools.
As they left the room, turning out the lights...
Something- or rather, someone- formed out of the shadows.
They were at the computer within seconds, clicking it to life. All these devices needed was a little push...
On the camera to the upstairs hallway was a ghostly white figure.
It turned towards the camera, seemingly adjusting its eyes to look through it.
But the person blocked it with just a bit of magic.
After all, they weren't even supposed to be there in the first place...
The ghost was supposed to be alone. That was the way it always was- that was the way it always had been.
And yet there was always someone in the world kind enough to reach out a hand, no matter who- or in this case, what- it was to.
Nobody was ever truly alone.
