Guys, there won't be a second upload today.

I'm sorry, I really am... But I'm...

PLAYING D&D FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE!
Yes, I know, I'm a nerd. Don't judge me. But a single round of Dungeons and Dragons takes a couple hours, and I've got work today, too. So... Yeah, sorry. Don'tkillmepls-

"Ugh! C-c-c-cov-cover-!"

Chase burst into the bathroom, coughing as he slammed the door.

The bathroom was large, so they had something to be thankful for... But not for long if they didn't cover the door.

"Ve are already getting zhe towels and rags wet!" Henrik gestured towards the full bathtub, moving to grab Jackie from the other's arms.

"D-D-Doc, I don't th-think he's breath-breathing...!" Chase hovered over the doctor as he laid the hero out on the floor. "...Hmm..." Henrik checked Jackie's pulse.

It was slow, and soft.

His breathing...

There was none.

"Nein... Nein, nein, nein! Nicht heute!" Henrik growled, heart pounding in his throat. "C-c-can't you do-" Chase burst out coughing again, "-CPR?!" Chase panicked, Marvin, in turn, getting distracted from his task of soaking towels to flip through his spell book. "It may not vork, his heartbeat-!" "We have to at least try! DO IT!" Chase yelled, going red in the face.

As Henrik angled Jackie's head, Chase turned to help with the towels. They put the wet rags under the door and slip them through the top gap, too, just trying to make sure no smoke gets in. "What about the vent?!" Marvin pointed at a vent close to the floor, which Chase covered as well.

They heard sirens, but they weren't too loud. The firefighters could still be a while away, for all the Septics knew. But it still brought hope.

There was yelling outside, and Marvin could hear stomping as the firefighters entered through the door without trouble... It seemed that the ghost really had given them a chance of escape... But Marvin wouldn't dwell on that now!

"They're here!" He shouted in relief, looking over to his elder brother. But his heart fell as he saw the condition the other was in. Henrik was working hard to get the smoke out of Jackie's lungs, and though he seemed to be getting better, the hero could only let out coughs. Every time his chest rose, and he tried to suck in air, he could hardly get a pinch in before he started coughing. His breaths and even his coughs were small and shallow...

"C'mon, Red, just hang on a bit longer!" Marvin grabbed his brother's hand, tears pricking his eyes.

BANG!

The door slammed open, and in walked several firemen. Along with a bunch of smoke, but that wasn't entirely a problem at this point. The family was going to be okay...

For Chase, the rest of it was really a blur.

He remembered getting lightheaded and feeling as if all the energy he had when saving Jackie had just drained out of him. He nearly collapsed, but someone picked him up. After that, his vision kept fading in and out- showing different scenes every time, like in a movie.
