The next day was different.
Weird.
This past month- this past year, if you will- had been nothing but good fortune... But, like they say, all good things come to an end.
It was just too good to last.
The entire day, everything felt... Off. Like everyone was waiting for something to happen but didn't know what.
The oven had changed back at exactly midnight. This was reported by the camera systems the Septics had all over the house. It was a bit odd, they admitted... But the oven was working again, so none of them gave a shit.
Marvin didn't have a job today, so he ended up going to the store. All the while, he was thinking about... The demon. As of today, it had been ten days since its extermination... But Marvin still had dreams about it.
The magician often dreamt of confronting the demon on a hill, seeing it looking exactly the same as when they got rid of it. Beaten. Bruised. Broken beyond repair. It would stand there, looking at them as if it ought to kill them. Or worse, yell at them. But in the end, it always just shook its head and turned away, disappearing. But the glint in its eyes told Marvin that it had something worse planned.
Other times, Marvin would dream about the battle itself. Something about it felt... Wrong. Every time Marvin dreamt about it, he 'noticed' something new. Things he didn't care to admit or acknowledge, because it was just a dream.
Currently, Marvin was thinking about the 'why'. There were so many 'why's that needed answered. Why had it come to this? Why did it attack them? Why did it ever exist in the first place?! If it weren't for that thing, the Septics wouldn't all have to feel like they have blood on their hands. Marvin hated it. And yet a part of him still wondered if the battle and way it was killed was a bit... Well, extreme. He remembered laughing at it, watching it squirm and cough up blood and threaten their very lives...
Telling it that it would die alone.
...Yeeeeah... Maybe they went a little far.
But Marvin didn't regret it. He couldn't, he wouldn't!... Shaking the thoughts out of his head, the magician strolled over to the snacks section. He grinned as he saw his favorite cookies, making his way over. But all of a sudden, his surroundings stilled and went grey. Marvin looked up, only to see that everything had shifted.
The magician looked down the aisle, only to see Anti standing there. But he wasn't facing Marvin, he was facing the other direction. And the glitch had something in hand. He was talking to Darkiplier, making him laugh.
"...-Would like?" Anti hummed, tapping his chin thoughtfully. "Probably just knives." Dark grunted, rolling his eyes. "Well, I already got them those, but I'm talking about something to snack on! Do you think they like lemon drops?" Anti turned to the shelf, putting what he was trying to sneak into the cart away.
"Yeah, they do- wait. Did you just say that you got them KNIVES?! Goddammit, Anti! I gave you ONE rule!" Dark groaned but didn't actually seem too upset. "Ehh... Anyways! I'll just plop those in there... Say... Since we're alone... Can you answer me something?" Anti's mood seemed to change suddenly, his green eyes burning through the grey illusion of the past. His eyes landed on Marvin briefly, but smoothly turned to Dark. "What is it?" The other dark ego frowned, seeing how serious the other suddenly looked.
"Are you an idiot?"
The glitch snarled, his eyes burning brighter. Marvin's heart dropped, feeling something bad coming. Did Anti hurt Dark? Or was this AFTER the Septics found out, and Anti just killed him?
