I woke up in the morning deliciously well rested. I hadn't slept so well in a long time. I rolled over to see the clock on the bedside table but instead of noticing the clock, there was a body sprawled next to me. Sirius lay on his stomach, his dark hair splayed on the pillow on the other side of the double bed. I hadn't even noticed him get into the bed. I was never that oblivious. I sat up, staring down at him for a while alternating between wanting to beat him for breaking his word, and wanting to lie down beside him again.
"It's a bit difficult to sleep when you're staring at me Fleury." He said his voice thick with sleep, his eyes closed. How did he always know when I was staring at him?
"Well," I started, loading my voice with sarcasm, "it's a bit perplexing, see I thought we had separate beds but instead I'm staring down at a man in my bed."
"Firstly," He said opening his eyes lazily and stretching out even further, "this is actually my bed." I opened my mouth to argue with him but he continued, "Secondly, you're damn right I'm a man."
"I hardly think that's the point."
"Did you sleep well?" He asked, his eyes intense but his voice sincere.
"Uh..." I was ready for an argument not kindness. "I did yes, thank you."
"Still struggling with nightmares?" He said lifting himself to sit beside me. He was shirtless as he had been when he climbed into his own bed the night before.
"No." I said sharply looking away.
"You're such a lousy liar Fleury. We really have to work on that."
I flung my legs over the side of the bed, my mood souring.
"Not when I can't even trust you to stay in your own bed were not."
He climbed out and came after me.
"No." He said cutting me off on my path to the bathroom. "You're not doing that again." I gave him the meanest look I could muster but for Sirius, I couldn't actually assume that it was mean at all.
"You speak in your sleep Yves." He said and my stomach went cold. My face must have been shocked because he quickly started speaking.
"You were yelling about something, I couldn't make out anything so don't worry but I came over to make sure you were ok and when I touched you, you sort of, uh, calmed down or something." He looked slightly embarrassed, "So I fell asleep next to you. I promise there was nothing nefarious about it."
I felt a flush rise into my cheeks and I couldn't help but feel as though the damn things were betrayers. I hadn't expected that at all.
"Uh... sorry about that. I'll find another room to..."
"You're not sleeping anywhere else Yves, how many times must I say this?" He asked exasperatedly, running his hands through his hair impatiently.
"Thank you." I said ignoring him, "for coming over then."
"You're welcome." He said a smile unfurling, "Now you want to get back into it?" He was looking at my very naked legs. Pyjamas Yves! Merlin's beard! I rolled my eyes and went straight into the bathroom, my cheeks flaring up again.
I went downstairs and found everyone in the kitchen. They all looked at me expectantly. Sirius sat at the far end of the table, the chair beside him open. He smiled broadly before stuffing almost an entire bread roll into his mouth.
"Eat something light." I said looking around at the mountains of food the boys were piling on their plates.
"This is light." James said shoving an entire boiled egg into his mouth.
