Chapter 4: The Newbies

It only felt like maybe an hour or two when sunlight from a nearby window pierced through Jack's visor and through his eyelids. Slowly muttering and cursing under his breath, he adjusted his visor, until he heard and felt something to his left side. Breathing.

He turned around to see two pairs of red eyes staring directly at him. Startled, Jack stood up to see a perplexed looking boy also his age with red, smooth, upward anime-styled hair, red eyes, and a leather coat. The dude turned to look behind him and asked loudly, almost yelling,

"HEY GEO! WHO'S THIS RANDOM GUY HERE?"

Feeling awkward, Jack didn't say a thing, but he got out of the couch and strapped on his EXE Blade. He wondered if he'll ever get the chance to use it, or if he'll ever learn how it works in the first place. Meanwhile, Geo appeared from a hallway to see the redhead. His eyes widened as he ran over to him and tried to explain to him what was happening. Then the door opened to reveal Ami, who walked in to see the red-headed stranger staring at the newcomer and hurriedly tried to explain the whole situation to him. She was then followed by more similar-aged strangers that included 3 other girls and one guy. They looked at the newcomer in surprise.

One of them ran over to Jack at a literal untraceable speed and stared him directly in the eye. She had long, green, waistline hair that broke off into three huge strands and lay at her back. She also wore what looked like a technologic combination of a headband and headphones, with headphone ears placed on the ends of the headband. There was a simple drawn logo of a woman's face with the words "Moon Tech". She wore a dark green coat, with her coat arms being slightly larger than her actual arms, and large green leggings and shoes.

"Are you another vampire?" She asked in a demanding manner.

Jack responds nervously,

"Umm... yes?"

"Then why do you look different compared to Geo?"

"Uh... It's... a disguise. So that I'm not recognized as a vampire in public."

"Hmm..."

The girl takes a look around him.

"You don't seem to be Teoran, nor do you seem to possess any kind of magic..."

She finally stood up to take a good look at him.

"So you might as well be a vampire. You already met Geo and Ami?"

Jack nodded.

"And did Queen Gwain put your life on the line as part of a job to protect Ami as a bodyguard?"

"No. But she did try to kill me, and she says she wants to see me today itself at her palace to discuss what to do with me. I just came to this land just yesterday. And that's when she met me. Oh, and I have friends, but they're not vampires, let's just say. More like cool robot aliens."

The avocado girl squints her eyes and says,

"Ookay... I'm Marlow Daunagin. Seems you've already met Geo and Ami and Agni over there."

"Ok... Nice to meet you."

Marlow pointed to the rest of the friend group, who came over to take a closer look at Jack.

"The brown-haired girl with brown eyes and dress is Lanney Ca'Hadean, our little bread girl. The man in the purple coat, purple hat, and with the purple eyes, that's Savien. And lastly, we have Agni's cousin, Deva, the light-blue haired and eyed girl."

Marlow finally turned to Jack.

"And what's your name?"

"Jackson Darby. But you can just call me Jack."
