I STARED AT MY REFLECTION in the mirror after putting on my brown contact lenses. Seeing my eyes like this felt safer. I felt like I was no longer naked and vulnerable. I felt like I could be myself yet still be secretive at the same time.
"Bishop, are you done?" a voice from outside my bedroom suddenly asks, making me sigh.
I looked at myself for one last time before finally opening the door. Lino stands in front of me wearing a normal uniform. This was the uniform he would usually wear whenever he'd drive master Claudio to the hospital. He still covers his face with a regular mask though because of that creepy scar that he has on.
"Looks like you're ready," he says as I step out of my room, wearing my butler uniform as well.
Lino closes the door for me and the two of us started walking down the hallway so we could rejoin the master downstairs. But as we were walking, we suddenly heard a ruckus coming from upstairs where the patients were.
"What on earth was that?" Lino asks as the two of us looked at each other.
I shrugged my shoulder as an answer, and so the two of us rushed to the higher floor to check what was going on. At this hour, the patients should be hanging outside for their recreational activities. Something must have happened again.
"You fat fucking pig! You touched me!" We could already hear someone shout from a distance.
When Lino and I finally arrived at the top floor, the two of us instantly saw Wednesday practically strangling Pacific while the other nurses tried to pull them apart. One of the nurses was trying to inject Wednesday with the tranquilizer, but she couldn't even approach her because of how violent Wednesday was acting despite having the chains on her hands.
"This bitch is seriously a pain," Lino angrily says, running towards them so he could stop Wednesday from doing more harm. I was about to follow behind him, but then I spot Lady's door.
I looked around and realized that everyone was busy holding off Wednesday and Pacific, so I took the chance and ran to Lady's door, opening the little window so I could see him inside.
Lady was sitting in a wheelchair. He sat still as he was facing the window that had the view of the sea.
"Lady, "I called out, but Lady didn't respond.
I tried to open the door, but as expected, it was locked. I looked around the area again to check if they were still busy. When the coast was clear, I took a deep breath and forcefully remove one button from my coat so I could throw it in Lady's direction.
Lady finally moves, but he still doesn't face me.
"Lady, it's me, Bishop," I say, and Lady just moved his finger, showing that he was listening.
"I don't have much time, but I need to know more about what you said before. Why did you tell me to leave with Adeline and father Laurence? What did you mean by that?" I ask, but Lady didn't respond.
I swallowed the lump in my throat and clenched my fist in frustration. Did Claudio do this to him because he knew that he was going to say something to me?
"Please Lady...I need to know what you meant," I tell him.
Lady moves his finger again. I thought he was going to stay silent, but then I saw him slowly moving his wheelchair so he could face me. I was moments away from seeing his face, but then, my head starts throbbing so hard that I fell to the ground in an instant.
