The Beginning Of Something

Hours passed before a doctor came up me.

"Unfortunately she is showing no signs of her condition improving. We are going to monitor her to ensure her condition doesn't get any worse." Patting me on the sholder in a comforting way.

"You can go see her now. Unfortunately we have put her in a seduced coma so she won't be able to speak or hear you" he reassured me.

The door creaked as I opened it, pushing it aside. The room was dimly lit with a flickering light attached above the bed. The bed with my injured mother in it. I saw her chest rise and fall every so often, still fighting for every breath, indicating she's still alive.

I sat down on a seat that was placed beside her bed and held her hand tightly. The beeping of heart rate monitor going off in the background muted out by the sound of my mothers shaky breath.

"I'm sorry mum, I should have done something" my eyes filled remembering how I just stood and watched.

"I'll be a better son from now on. Just please wake up" I said, hoping we could just put this whole thing behind us. "Just wake up now and we can go"

"WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!" I shook her body, Tears began falling down my cheeks. A constant beep in background. A constant beep?

"Mum? SOMEONE HELP US!" I shouted down the corridor. Doctors again rushed in to her help. One of them pushed me out of the room telling me to "calm down" and they "will do everything they can". I paced in the corridor wondering if I did this. Had I? She was fine before... before I shook her before I shouted at her. WHY DID I DO THIS. It was all my fault.

I paced and panicked in the corridor for another 5 minutes before another doctor came out. He looked disheartened. A few moments later 3 other doctors left the room,  all of them with the same look of disappointment on their faces. One of them pulled me to the side. I tried to peer into the room but all I saw was my mother in the room laying still. Extremely still.

"We've tried ever-" thats all I needed to hear. I knew what they were going to say. My mother was dead. I killed her. It was me. The doctor finished speaking "if there is anything you need let us know" I just stared into the empty room where my mother layed alone. Again I swung open the door and held her hand tightly. This time her hand was cold. Losing warmth.

"AHHHHHHHHH"

"MUM?" I screamed back, my eyes flashed me back to earlier that day. I looked down noticing it wasn't her.

"Sir stand back" more voices coming from distant corridors
