Edilia
"What are you two doing?" Aquilina yelled.
"Oh we're happily knowing each other here, great time actually, maybe we should call this dating."
"Dude, that is not how I taught you to ask a girl for a date." Ranulf appeared.
Aquilin looks pale and Ranulf is covered in blood same as Everard.
"Come on, someone opened a portal earlier and they might open more and where's the librarian?" Aquilina asked.
Everard sidestepped. "Everyone, I would like to introduce the last Librarian, Edilia."
I sigh. "Edilia Florence."
Aquilina gasped. "Florence? The right hand of Vineriya, you're the daughter of Lord Albert."
"I knew you were familiar, you're the daughter of the Lady Carla, I met her once." Edilia said.
"No time for reunion. Time to go." Ranulf said as he drag Aquilina.
"Come on." For the second time tonight Everard took my hands as we slip out of the building undetected.
"Wait, shouldn't we close the portal?"
"Aquilina already did." Ranulf said upfront. I only noticed how much Aquilina was panting. It might have cost her tremendous mana.
"Get in." Ranulf took the drivers seat of a small jeep. Everard took shotgun while both of us girls ride behind.
"You're father was a good man." Aquilina suddenly said after a couple of minutes of silence.
"You knew him?"
"Yes. My mother took me on some of her meetings. You're father gave me candy sometimes, he said I remind her of her daughter."
Tears started to stung my eyes. It's been months since I saw my parents before the purge. I was a graduating student under my master so I was busy studying. I was not there for them.
I forced my tears back, there's no use crying, I already spent my whole year doing that. Finally we manage to slip out of the city, we were now traveling west towards the border.
"Wait, do I really need to face the council?"
"Yes, you're practically the only symbol we have the chance of winning this war, sweetheart." Ranulf said.
"But they were expecting a Vineriya, I'm not Lady Arisa or Lady Livia."
Silence.
"You're a librarian are you?" Aquilina asked.
"Yes."
"Then that's enough, infact you're Master Vineriya's student. He gave you his ring, he trust you."
"Thank you."
Aquilina smiled. "Your father has been kind to me. This the least I could do."
I nodded.
"If you're the librarian, why did you come home for?" Everard asked looking at me through the front mirror.
"Books."
"Really?"
"Yes, really."
"You risked your life for some books?"
"I'm a librarian, they're not just books." I argued.
"A librarian acquire a special book once they we're able to graduate, just like how a warrior were given a sword, just like your Clovis." Aquilina explained for me.
