Edilia

The past two days were quite and peaceful but I can't let my guard down. Some looks at me with amazement, some are looking at me funny.

We gathered with dinner tonight. Ranulf was munching a sandwich beside me. Aquilina on my other side stabbing a poor potato, grumbling that it was uncooked. Everard was opposite to me eating an apple and was giving me glances he though I didn't notice.

They were given the task of protecting me, and they were taking it seriously, I was never left alone one of them were always with me.

"I heard vampires can't taste human food." I asked Ranulf. The vampire was a big flirt, it makes easy talking to him.

"That's a complete lie. I can taste it just fine."

"Only after they drink blood." Everard added.

"I notice, he looks less paler. I studied vampirism before but never befriended one."

"You are welcome to make me your specimen anytime." He winked at me. "Ow! Dude! Stop kicking me on my knee. If I'm not a vampire you've broken my bone already. Man, I've never seen you jealous. Aww!"

"Shut up." Everard was red as the apple, he tossed the core and bounce on Ranulf's head. Aquilina and I chuckled. This trio is growing on me.

"Come on, Edilia. Let's leave this idiots behind." Aquilina says as she drags me off the table.

I'm currently sleeping with Aquilina on her quarters, she's a good friend and company. After being alone for a year. I never knew how much I crave someone's company until now. I opened the room first, Aquilina suddenly pulled me back, I heard her cast a a quick spell as a bomb just suddenly detonated on my face. It happened in three seconds.

The fire engulfed both of us, it's not touching us inside the protection bubble but it's so hot.

I heard people screamed for help around us. The fire suddenly vanished leaving the place around us smoking.

I look up to find the Witch representative Lady Zelene looking down on us.

"Hmmm."

"Lady Zelene," Aquilina said. "Thank you."

"You did good job too protecting her."

Everard appeared pulling me on my feet his arms around me. I was still in shock.

"Someone left a bomb in my room." Aquilina said, her voice seething with anger.

"The books!" I yelled. But Everard's not letting me go.

Lady Zelene walked by the scorched room and said a spell. The floor shook. I asked Aquilina days before where I could put my books safely and she literally imbued it to the cemented floor. Now my books floated to her hands.

"Here. Safe and sound." Lady Zelene handed it to me.

The trio brought me to my room. To be safe Aquilina got in first, her protection spells surrounding her. The council are currently investigating who might be the culprit. After few minutes she came back out informing it's safe. The boys will stay outside the room to guard.

"Why didn't anyone told me, someone wants me dead?"

"We don't want to worry you, we want you to feel safe here."

"I wanna leave."

"It's not a good idea. Besides Lady Zelene got a lead on Eliot, someone heard about a librarian was living in the City of Verona before the purge. He's famous there."
