Edilia

Fire consuming everything and demons slaughtering everyone I love. I woke with a start. I was sweating hard. Choking back a sob I stood up and stared outside, cracking the windows open to feel some fresh air. The light from the sun was quite dim after the Purge. Warlock Thamos put a magic on it, in order for demons to roam freely even in daylight, but light enough to keep vampires under their caskets.

I took some cereals and milk as my breakfast, I still have an hour for my next shift.

I started to change and prepare. I looked up to the bathroom mirror. I look like a wreck, I don't always have nightmares. After putting some lipstick and powder I left.

The diner I've been working on is just next door but I took few turns around the area to lose whoever's following me, if there's any. Three months, the longest I've stayed in one place. But it's becoming difficult to find work this days, everyone needed money, I needed money to get to the next city, or town at least. I can already feel eyes on me here.

"Cleo, bring this to table three." Gwen handed me a tray of food. Cleo the Alias I've taken while working here.

"Cleo," My manager Annawe called, she's a shifter and her reptilian eyes followed me. "I need you to stay until eight, Castro can't come on his shift."

"But Annawe, you know I can't stay after dinner."

"Castro is sick, I need hand on deck. If you can't then leave and don't come back!" She said her voice hard.

I pressed my lips together and nodded. Just until my next payroll tomorrow, I'll endure and leave this place.

"Welcome." I said as a new customer entered the establishment, I looked up and saw blue eyes staring down at me. He's muscle bulging on his tunic. A warrior and he's young. He eyes scanned me up and down. He's checking me out, my fave heated, but that's not just that, he's gaze are penetrating too, I shivered.

"Th-there's an empty table over there. I'll get your order soon."

He nodded. I came back behind the counter to punch some orders, somehow I can feel his gaze on me. I wonder if I could ask Annawe to give my salary in advance. I need to leave tonight someone's must have found out. Pedro that jerk.

When I first came to the city I have no money left to even buy dinner and no job will take me. Only one person can help, the informant. The Informant are clairvoyant people. The only currency they accept is knowledge and information, which they tend to sell to the highest bidder. But I was hungry, tired and don't want to die so I came to him for help. It took some time to find him, they were clever and you can't catch until they let you.

When I finally met him, he was covered completely in hood it was so hard to see his face. "I'm Pedro. I saw you coming, you are?

"Clarissa."

"That's not your name." He said plainly.

"How did you know? Clairvoyant are not mind readers."

"Call it a hunch."

"Edilia." I said. "I need your help. I need money for food and lodgings and also a job."

"That's quite a help you need. You must pay in a high price, what information can you offer?"

I gulp, their is no greater information than what I know.

"I know where the last librarian is."

Pedro was silent for a moment. "Many people already claimed it. What makes you different?"
