Everard

"Wait, I think I know how to find them."

All eyes, are on her. The attention they're giving her is making her nervous. But she still faced them head on.

"We Librarians have a pattern when it comes to hiding a treasure. We literally have a subject for it. We don't own any treasure but our books when we graduate as a full Librarian. We don't usually bring it with us when we travel, we were advise to hid it in case we met an accident or something, we were taught to make clues as where we hid it when we die, our family is obligated to find it and be given to the next heir. If we could find this people then maybe I could find their books."

"Why didn't you tried this before?" Zelene asked.

"I didn't know these books cannot be destroyed, Sigmundor's home was guarded, so I never had the chance to find it."

My father didn't spoke much, he's observing and trying to think. Hopefully it's for the good.

"Those pages you have, can you read them?" Gregoria asked.

"Yes. But I can't understand them. Here let me read some words to you."

She pointed the first page.

"This his are magic wings, heal health, fire fire love at fine earth high carry most low kind how more arrow fight. Are you following me? It's just random words I can read them but they sound gibberish."

"It's a diary spell." Lady Carla said. "It's a simple spell Magicians usually use to our diaries, to kept anyone from understanding it."

"How do we remove it?"

"The only way is to complete the book." The Oracle says.

"The council will proceed on it's own. You may leave, thank you Dear. Everard, Ranulf and Aquilina, you are in charge of protecting the last Librarian until we find the other part of this books."

I nodded, my hands are still on Edilia's waist. Strange I can't remember how long I've been holding her.

We three nodded and Aquilina took Edilia by the elbow and walk with her as we step out.

Aquilina took Edilia for a border tour, I wonder what could she show her at this place. An hour or so the council's meeting was adjourned, I was waiting for my father.

"Good job son, I'm sorry I haven't had the time to talk earlier."

"How is it?" He didn't answer, he gestured me to follow to his room.

"Half the council agreed that the best course of action is to find this people and have Edilia to hunt for clues."

"And?"

"The other half was saying she's a fraud, she does not know how to read the books."

"That's bullshit, they saw her read the transcript."

"Yes. The Oracle said so. But the half think she's making it up. So You have to guard her, Everard, they are traitors among us."

"Another incident happened?" I ask. It happened often, the warlocks always knew our weakest point and knew where to attack. We haven't found the mole yet, we tried different strategy to caught the traitor but they are trickier than we though.

"Yes. Yesterday, someone blow off the protection torch allowing some warlocks to get through."

The fire torch, Lady Carla and Zelene put magic on them as long as they keep burning those evil bastards will be kept at bay. The whole border have torches every 20 feet.

"The patrols?"

"Already in the dungeons. They were found unconscious. I'm afraid someone might try to kill the librarian among us. She'll be our savior son." He says as he left me to think

I didn't saw Aquilina or Edilia by lunch. Ranulf is nowhere to be found. Usually he's somewhere finding a willing blood donor. I headed up to her room. Edilia's room is empty.

I headed to Aquilina's. Empty. I started to panic. Then someone appeared to the corner. I sighed with relief then irritation. "Where were you?" I said. "And why are you crying?" I said pointing to Edilia.

"We came from my mother's room." Aquilina said.

"So you know?"

"Know what, silly. We were talking about her family, she misses them."

"Oh."

"What are doing on my room?" Aquilina gave me a withering gaze.

"I was looking for you. Did you ate?"

"Edilia is not in the mood to eat." Aquilina answered for her.

"Fine. Can we talk for a moment?"

She nodded and murmured to Edilia. "Just rest on my room ok?"

Edilia nodded and close the door.

"When did you become this close?" I ask.

She shrugged. "She's been through a lot."

I told her what my father said.

"Why did my mom didn't say anything." She hissed.

I gave the door a look.

"Oh, I see. She doesn't want to spook her. Don't worry, I'll have her stay with me always."

"How about me?"

She rolled her eyes.

"She's safest to be with me the most." I said.

She made a fake laugh. "Screw you, Everard. You look at her like she's a piece of candy."

"Fuck off," she just laugh on my face.
