Ava's at school and she walks up to Elena and Bonnie with a smile, and she says, "Good morning, Elena. Good morning, Bonnie." Bonnie looks at Elena and says, "Hey, um, I gotta find Caroline. She's not answering her phone. So, see you guys..." As Bonnie's walking away, Elena says, "Bonnie, wait." Bonnie just keeps walking away and Ava says, "She doesn't like me very much." Elena says, "She doesn't know you. She's my best friend. She's just looking out for me. But when she does... she will love you. Here's what we're going to do. Are you free tonight?" Ava smiles and says, "Yes." Elena smiles and says, "Perfect. Dinner, my house, 8 o'clock. You, me, Bonnie. You two will spend some quality time and she'll get to see what a great girl you are. Mission accomplished." Then, Ava senses a ball come right at her, and she turns around and catches the ball. Ava then throws it back at Tyler and everyone's impressed at Ava. Later, as Ava and Elena are walking to Elena's locker, Elena smiles and says, "That throw was insane. I didn't know you played football." Ava says, "I used too. It was a long time ago." Elena says, "So, why don't you try out for the team?" Ava says, "Yeah, I don't think so." Elena says, "So, you don't like football?" Ava says, "No, I love football. I think it's a great sport. But in this case I don't think football likes me. You saw Tyler over there and we both know how Matt feels." Elena says, "They don't know you, to them you're a mysterious loner girl. Wouldn't hurt to be part of. Make some friends." Ava says, "Says the girl who spends her alone time writing in a cemetery." Elena smiles and says, "Hey, come on. There's more to me than just gloomy graveyard girl. There's a whole other Elena that you have yet to meet. She was into everything, very busy." Ava smiles and says, "Well, I look forward to meeting her. And when will that be?" The bell rings and Elena says, "Soon. She's working on it." Later, in Mr. Tanner's class, Mr. Tanner says, "World War II ended in? Anyone got anything? Miss Juan? 1945." Elena leans over to Ava and whispers, "Psst! FYI!... our team sucks. They could use you." Mr. Tanner says, "Pearl Harbor." Ava whispers, "Can't. I'm a loner." Elena chuckles and Mr. Tanner says, "Miss Gilbert?" Elena looks at Mr. Tanner and says, "Hmm? Pearl Harbor?" Elena says, "Um..." Ava helps her out and says, "December 7, 1941." Elena smiles at Ava and Mr. Tanner sarcastically says, "Thank you, Miss Gilbert." The class chuckles and Ava says, "Anytime." Mr. Tanner says, "Very well. The fall of the Berlin wall." Ava says, "1989. I'm good with dates, sir." Mr. Tanner says, "Are you? How good? Keep it to the year." Ava nods and she can't wait to show off and Mr. Tanner says, "Civil Rights Act." Ava says, "1964." Mr. Tanner says, "John F. Kennedy assassination." Ava says, "1963." Martin Luther King." Ava says, "1968." Mr. Tanner says, "Lincoln." Ava says, "1865." Mr. Tanner says, "Roe versus Wade." Ava says, "1973." Mr. Tanner says, "Brown versus Board." Ava says, "1954." Mr. Tanner says, "The battle of Gettysburg." Ava says, "1863." Mr. Tanner says, "Korean war." Ava says, "1950 to 1953." Mr. Tanner smiles and says, "Ha! It ended in '52." Mr. Tanner along with the rest of the class laughs and Ava says, "Actually, sir, it was '53." Some people start oohing and Mr. Tanner says, "Look it up, somebody. Quickly." One of the students say, "It was 19... 53." Ava smiles smug at Mr. Tanner and the class applauds at Ava. After class, Elena says, "How did you know all of that?" Ava says, "I enjoy reading History. It's a loner thing." Later, Ava's on the bleachers watching football practice and contemplating if she should actually play or not. Then she gets up and walks up to Mr. Tanner and asks to try out and he says, "Varsity trials were last spring, Miss Salvatore." Ava says, "I wasn't here then, sir." Mr. Tanner says, "And you're not here now, as far as I'm concerned." Ava sighs and says, "Mr. Tanner, I realize that you and I didn't get off to the best start and I wanna apologize for that. I've played football before. Wide receiver, mostly, and I'm pretty good." Mr. Tanner looks Ava up and down and scoffs, "Well, I won't be asking you who won the super bowl in '71. Also, you're a girl and I don't think someone your size is fitting for football." Ava sighs and Mr. Tanner says, "But I would like to see you get knocked on your ass. Borrow some gear." Ava nods and walks away to put some gear on. A few moments later, Ava runs out on the field decked out in football gear. Ava's on the field and Matt yells, "Blue lady! Blue lady! Set, hut! Go!" One of the teammates throw the ball and Ava catches it. Matt then says, "Line up!" Matt throws the ball to Ava and the other teammates try to grab the ball, but she dodges them. Then Ava catches the ball again and again and again. Basically Ava caught all the balls the teams impressed along with Mr. Tanner. Ava stands away from the team and she overhears Matt and Tyler's conversation and Matt says, "Hate to stay it, but she's got skills. Especially for a girl." Tyler says, "I think she needs a buddy pass." Matt says, "Really?" Tyler says, "You don't get to walk on the field and act like you own the place after five minutes." Ava stops listening and goes back to playing football. Matt throws the ball and as Ava goes to catch, Tyler knocked her down. Tyler stands over Ava and he says, "Whoo! Welcome to the team, sweetheart." Tyler walks away and Mr. Tanner says, "You gonna live, Salvatore?" Ava sits up and says, "Yeah." Mr. Tanner says, "Walk it off." Matt walks up to Ava and says, "Hey. That was my bad." Matt helps Ava up and she says, "It's alright." Matt says, "Yeah." Ava takes off her glove to see her pinky crooked and she fixes it.
