Gee, 1.59k....? Where are all you people coming from?!

Fall had originally just gone out to see Dev's new bike. He and his new friends seemed trustworthy enough as they chatted peacefully.

One tall, and quite frankly buff, man was called Frank, and he was a pro wrestler and from Desolation HQ. He seemed to be wrapped head to toe in clothing, so all Fall could really see were his curious goldish eyes. He was nice enough, and expressed an odd fondness for My Little Pony and horses, but he was definitely strong.

The next friend of Dev's was this crazy skinny toothpick of a woman who ate more than her body weight it seemed. The coffee and scones from Starbucks had disappeared almost as soon as they had touched the table in front of her. She was nice enough, and talked very quickly, and from what Fall could make out, she talked about the weather and traveling. But her speech was too rushed for Fall to really understand. Her name was... Cherry? Sherry? She spoke too quickly to guess.

Then there was Zig. Squat, hardly 5 feet tall, probably smaller. He chilled in a wheelchair, but Fall could guess he didn't really need one. He was calm and collected and rather dreary for a person, only answering with short answers or yes or no.

The group of five headed out and Dev lead her down the street when she felt.... Something was amiss. She faded from sight and looked about when she noticed it- where were all the angels? All the passerbys were walking by themselves. People were bumping into each other and cars hit each other. The chaos of the missing angels was beginning.

Fall glanced up, only to regret it as she saw only a battleground, angels fighting and trying to tear each other apart above. Her wings unfolded, and she braced to fly up, only to have something hit her chest with a tearing sound and knock her over, gasping for air as she went visible again.

"Hey, leaving so soon?" Dev asks, walking over, holding an intricate gun of some demonic or angelic make.

"What.... Are you doing...." Wheezed Fall, slowly moving her hand to her chest and finding a circle device, which had clamped down into her chest on its impact and was digging its way into her just below her breasts.

"Didn't you hear? Heaven has no leaders now. The last one dropped dead." Dev says, kicking Fall's shoulder and causing her to gasp in pain, curling up on the sidewalk and trying to breathe.

Frank, who Fall had started to like, was standing by the Starbucks door, making sure no one went out, looking uneasy. If any of Fall's friends had just looked out the window and down the block, they'd see her. But none of them did.

"No messing up anything, alright?" Dev threatened. "Or everyone dies. No flying, no changing. I've been working too hard to let you screw this up."

That's when Fall noticed it.

Large, tattered wings, an array of brown, ever shifting patterns rippling across them behind Dev.
How did she not notice...?
