The deal went as planned. He said his name was Ace when I asked him.

"You don't need to know who I am, you just need to know my money." He passed me a briefcase before walking away with my packs. I guess my job was done?

I walked back to the Drag with the briefcase in my hands, smiling at Satoro as I walked into the dark room. He merely frowned and turned away.

I set the briefcase down at Damon's feet before walking next to Satoro. Then the smell of metal hit me in the face. He didn't do a very good job washing it off.

"So that's what he's having you do." I said, leaning in closer to him.

"What do you mean?" He looked at me, pushing his hands back into his pockets.

"How many people has he had you kill?" I pressed.

"It's fine, it's nothing." He smiled at me, and waved it off.

"Therefore, we can see that the statement given in.." The teacher's voice trailed off yet again because I couldn't focus. I didn't even care that behind me Kyushi was throwing balls of paper at the back of my head. I didn't care that I got an F on my essay.

I put on my headphones and set out on my journey to Daichi's house. We had an English project together, but I wasn't really paying attention. I have to ask him about the project.

I passed Satoro, watching the blood flow from his nose, as he wiped his face. The tattoo on the right side of his neck was covered in bruises.

"Sator--" I was rammed into with a flash of silver, black, and an explosion of dark red.

I woke up in Daichi's house, on the couch covered in blood.

"We can't take him to a hospital, they'd get suspicious." I could hear Daichi's muffled voice, and looked over at him. My vision was blurred.

"Dari!" Satoro ran at me.

"Mmn--" I shut my eyes while tears poured through. Suddenly my vision became clearer. That was all I managed to say.

Satoro ran up to the couch and crouched beside me.

"Don't say anything, you'll strain yourself. Just listen. You were jumped. They shivved you. You shouldn't have called out to me. It was the Fae."

"W--"

"Don't say anything. He stabbed you in the abdomen." Sure enough, I pressed my hand to my stomach, and as I raised it, it was covered in blood.

"I--"

"For the last fucking time, Dari. Shut up." Satoro looked me dead in the eyes. He's changed. I'm such a fool for not noticing. Daichi just stood there, staring at me. His eyes rested on me, unchanged and concerned.

I watched everything fade to black as I closed my eyes.

"Well where do we hide it?" Daichi's voice woke me up. After a moment of thoughtful silence, I heard Satoro reply.

"You don't worry about that. Just bleach the scene." I could feel his eyes looking at me, concerned.

I rubbed my abdomen, feeling the new dressings they put on me. I felt better than before. I still don't think I'm capable of walking yet, but I think I can speak. I could before, but he just wouldn't let me.

"Satoro? Can you help me up?"

I didn't think that so much could happen within the span of ten seconds. Just ten seconds. That was all it fucking took. All it had to take.

"You should be a little better by tonight. Just please try your best to hide it from Kyushi and Akaru." He helped me up.

"Yeah, what made you think I wouldn't hide it from Ru? He's 16. Kyushi, he's another story." I said, pissed off. I don't know why I feel like starting a fight.

"Daichi, are you gonna just stand there and not say a fucking word to me? Just gonna keep on staring at me?"

"I--"

"It's fine, just help me get to the bathroom. Satoro should take a break, he looks like hell." My knees trembled a little as I blinked tightly. My abdomen was so sore, as I leaned a little on Satoro, looking down at him.

None of this was ever his fault. It's my fault for trying to help Ddaeng, and now because of me we're all spiraling down further, but at least Ddaeng won't die. Because if it weren't for me, nobody else in the Black Dragons would've fought for him to get out. Nobody else would try to make Damon own up to what he did to him. I swear to god, one day I'll make him pay for what he did to my cousin. He was more of a brother to me than my actual brother. He was the one I could share everything with. I knew that I could trust him, and look where he ended up. He's rotting in a prison cell because my asshat of a brother couldn't keep his goddamn mouth shut. I'm getting him out. I swear to god, if that's the very last thing I do in this world, I'm getting him out.

He held me around my hips with one arm, pulling me close to him with the other. I winced a little, and he released his grip slightly.

"So how did Satoro get to contact you?" I leaned back against the bathroom sink while Daichi still supported me anxiously.

"We met when Ken came to see me again. Satoro was just trailing him. I think it was Ken who wanted him to come with him. We started talking, I guess. Don't worry, he doesn't know about us. He just thinks we're friends."

He locked the door and pressed his head against it, shutting his eyes.

I flushed the toilet, washing my hands afterwards.

"Can I turn around yet?" I pressed both hands against the door.

"Sure." He did so, raising both of his eyebrows.

"Oh?" I kissed him deeply before unlocking the door, going back into the living room, breaking the kiss.
