I took a deep breath as I did some cleaning. The satisfaction of seeing the underneath of a dirty surface put my mind just a bit more at ease. The music made my hips sway and my brain focus only on that, the rhythms, the vocals, the way the melodies ran together. For a second, my mind was at peace.

"Hey you!" Sav sang as she barreled through the door. "You look like you're having fun."

I turned down my music. "How did finals go?"

She grinned wildly. "Passed with flying colors."

I laughed. "That's amazing baby!" I hugged her and she held me tightly. "I was just getting some cleaning done."

"For tomorrow?" Sav asked, raising an eyebrow.

Oh, right. "Yeah, I might as well help if I'm gonna live here ya know."

Sav pecked me on the lips and moved my hair back from my face. "Although that's true, I know what you're doing. I guess it could be worse though."

"Tomorrow isn't gonna be easy and I know I'm gonna complicate things but I really hope you understand that it isn't because of you."

"I understand. I get more now since you've explained, and I'm sure I'll understand even more when you're comfortable."

I smiled. "That means a lot to me. Thank you for everything you have done to help me."

"Well I do have future plans down the road for you to repay me, but we won't worry about those now. All you need to be focused on is getting through tomorrow, and then we can talk about the rest later."

--------------------------------------------

The day went by as the whole house got cleaned. Sav helped me with what I needed while I got to let loose and have a little bit of fun. I laid in bed, staring at the clock, wondering if I was gonna be able to sleep. Almost midnight and I still can't sleep. I wonder if Sav is still up. Probably not, she doesn't seem nearly as anxious as I am for this. It makes sense I guess, not everyone has to have a tragic backstory with their parents. I sighed and turned away from the clock, resting my arm under the pillow. Worse case scenario the police have to get involved again. It will be okay.

-------------------------------

My eyes fluttered open, groaning, I turned over to avoid the sun. Checking the time, I bolted up. "Shit, I overslept."

I walked to the door and slowly opened it, hearing mumbled voices inside. My heart pounded in my chest. Oh no...

My stomach grumbled. I slipped out of the room and kept down the hallway and stairs. I hoped to go unnoticed, but I heard "Hello sleeping beauty!"

I looked, trying to control my nerves. Sav looked at me, giving me a look of assurance. There was two women beside her, one taller than her with facial wrinkles around her eyes and lips with silvery hair, wearing a long sleeve grey shirt and jeans. The other woman was about the same height, stop-light red hair and green eyes. She wore a dark purple t-shirt and dark, knee length shorts. My heart lept in my throat. It really is her...oh my God...

"Are you okay dear?" The older woman asked. "You look quite pale."

"Y-yea I'm okay, just feeling a little under the weather I guess." I tried to hide the shaking in my voice.

Sav held my hand in hers and smiled lovingly. "Mom, Sylvia, this is my girlfriend. Cas, this is my mom and sister."

Her mother extended a hand to me, I took it. "I'm Gretchen. Sav's mother. We've heard a lot about you."

Sylvia smiled. "Hi there, nice to meet you."

I gave them both the best smile I could muster. Sav turned to me. "You must be hungry, come on." She led me to the kitchen while the other two went into the living room. "I couldn't wake you." She whispered, grabbing food for me. "I tried but you didn't wake up, it would look suspicious so I just left you alone."

I looked at her in fear. "Are you crazy?" Even whispering my voice shook. "What if she recognizes me?"

Sav didn't answer, she handed me the food and guided me into the living room. I no longer had an appetite but I ate anyway. Grechen looked at me, offering a small smile. "We hear you don't come from a good family. I hope we can help that for you."

I shook my head. "I'm pretty much over it now, not a big deal."

Sylvia smiled. "Nonsense, your family now. We gotta do something nice for you."

Has she already found out?? I looked at her. "Well, thank you guys for accepting me."

Sav kissed me on the cheek and held my hand as they all talked. I tried to pay attention but ended up lost. I just wanted to get out. I wanted to lock myself back in my room. "Cas you don't look so good. Are you sure your okay?"

"You know, I am feeling a little sick, maybe I should go lie down."

I stood up, mustering all the self control I had. I thanked both of them and practically bolted up the stairs. I shut the door and locked it, sliding my make-shift deadbolt in the door for good measure. My hands shook. I can't get out. I can't leave. I'm in the same house as the woman who wants me dead. Does she even know it's me? There's no way she could have caught up that early. Was I too obvious? No. I'm being stupid. Calm down, everything is gonna be okay.

I grabbed my phone and headphones, putting them in my ears. I turned the music up as loud as I could stand and let myself calm down.

----------------------

My door opened, making me jump a little, as Sav peeked her head through the doorway. "Is everything alright? May I come in?"

I nodded and she came inside, shutting and locking the door. She approached me cautiously. "I want to get out of he." I told her. You should have woke me up. Now what am I supposed to do?"

Sav pulled me into a soft hug. "I know this isn't what you planned and I'm sorry. I didn't know what to do. I don't think she recognized you but-"

There was another knock at the door. "You two alright in there?"

I looked up at Sav in fear, slinking close to her body. She held my hand in hers and rubbed my thumb. "It's okay, I'll be out soon."

I let out a small whine, I hadn't realized I had been holding it in. "Help me, get me out of here." I whispered. My hands shook. I had a horrible feeling of dread as memories started rushing back to me.

She held my hand tighter. "Everything is going to be alright. Just stay here." She got up, evoking another whine from me. "I will get them out of here soon."

She walked out the door. I took a breath and climbed under the covers, doing anything I could to feel safe. This can't be happening to me. Soon after, the doorknob turned again. I wrapped the blanket tightly around my body and scooted against the headboard, trying to be silent. "I know you're awake in there."

I covered my mouth to keep from screaming. My body went cold. The door open and Sylvia stood in the doorway. I tried to hide the fear in my eyes as she walked inside, sitting on the bed. Gulping down another scream, I looked at her and asked in the steadiest voice I could muster, "Is there something you need?"

She smiled and locked the door. "I need you, Cindy."
