Chapter Four

When we wake up, we instantly get dressed and start to get ready for our revenge. Patricia hasn't woken up yet, so we pull out her smelly clothes and fake perfume for me to inspect.

I hold up her smelly blouse and take in a deep breath. It smells like sour milk and rotten eggs. Perfect. Then I spray a little bit of vinegar in the air. The smell is awful and I hold my breath until the stench clears away. We can hear Patricia stirring in the closet, so we put her perfume and clothes back in her suitcase. Then we open the closet door. She walks out with her head held high and grabs her pajamas and perfume and heads for the bathroom. Sophie and Olivia then enter the bed room, both erupting with giggles.

"What's so funny?" I ask.

"We sprayed hairspray in her hairbrush. And mixed garlic in her toothpaste," says Olivia.

"So when she goes to brush her hair, it will get stuck! And her breath will stink too!" finishes Sophie.

I start giggling too. But then Patricia comes out of the bathroom, so we stop. She's still wearing her pajamas, but I can see her hairbrush tangled inside of her hair. I hold back a giggle and say, "I like your hairstyle, Patricia. And thanks for the late night swim. I enjoyed it."

She scowls and pulls herself into my face. "I don't know what your planning, but it isn't going to work," she says. I can smell the garlic.

I pull away from her. "Planning? What would we been planning? It was an honest game of truth or dare. And everybody gets their hairbrush stuck every now and then," I say.

She smirks and pulls away to go get dressed.

"Her breath smells awful!" I whisper.

The girls giggle softly.

"Let's get dressed," says Nicole.

I grab my clothes and head to the closet. I pull on my jeans and shirt and go out of the closet. Nicole and Samantha scream and dive onto Jessica's bed and pull the covers over their heads. I look curiously over at Olivia, who is pulling on her socks.

"They weren't finished dressing," she says.

Soon Nicole and Samantha crawl out from under the covers, looking foolish.

"Sorry," says Samantha. "We're used to be dressing in a private room."

Just then Jessica's mom walks in.

"How did you sleep girls?" she asks.

"Good. When's breakfast?" asks Jessica.

"Soon. I hope you all like pancakes and scrambled eggs!" she says.

"Yes ma'am!" we reply.

"Good. I better head back downstairs before your brother eats it all, Jessica." Then she stops and takes in a deep sniff. "Do I smell garlic?" she asks.

"Must've been the pizza last night," lies Jessica.

"Ok. Breakfast will be ready in about ten minutes."

We finish dressing and then Jessica's mom calls us down for breakfast.

***********

After we eat, we head outside fir some fresh air. Jake, Jessica's brother follows.

"Why is the pool cover off?" he asks.

"The pool cover must've blown off. Maybe it wasn't tied tight enough," says Jessica.

"Yeah I guess," he replies.

Sophie and jasmine disappear upstairs to get the oil while the rest of us distract Jake.

"So how did you get on the football team this year?" asks Nicole, twirling her hair.

"Oh you know. You have to be strong," he says, flexing his arms for her to see.

"Ooh can I feel?" she asks.

It's a no brainer. Of course he nods.

"Me too me too!" cry the other girls.

They're much better than me at flirting.

They crowd around him, each one itching to get to his arms. Me, Olivia and of course, Jessica hang back.

I turn around and see Sophie and Jasmine quickly pouring oil all over the sides of the pool, being careful not to get any inside of the pool.

I give a nod towards Nicole and gesture towards the pool. She understands perfectly and leads Jake closer and closer to the pool. Then, with no warning, she clutches Jake and gives him a full kiss on the lips. Then, out of nowhere, Patricia walks out the door, hairbrush still stuck in hair and gets a full eyeful of Nicole and Jake. She gasps and turns into a wild animal. Nicole has just pulled away when Patricia pounces on her, sending herself, Jake and Nicole flying into the pool with a great splash.

Water flies everywhere. I look into the pool and see Patricia still clutching Nicole, and pushing her down into the water as if to drown her.

Jake has to grab Patricia and haul her out of the pool to be able to calm her down and even then still has to hold her back. Nicole comes sputtering out of the pool. "Lovely pool you have there Jessica," she says, and wipes her nose, which is bleeding. She also has long scrapes down her arms and legs.

During the commotion, Jessica's parents come out of the house, not looking happy.

"What on earth happened?" shouts her dad. "Nicole, Jake and Patricia, why are you all wet?" he demands.

"And why is the pool cover off?!?" shouts her mom walking towards the pool.

Jessica tries to warn her but its to late. She slips on the oil and splashes into the pool, madder than a hornet. Jessica's dad tries to help her out, but he too slips and falls into the pool.

"Who greased the cement?!?" screams her dad. "Jessica, inside the house now. The rest of you, get your stuff and leave. NOW!!!"

We sprint up the stairs and grab our cellphones, hairbrushes, toothbrushes, pajamas, suitcases, and the rest f our stuff. Then we walk downstairs and with a 'thank you for inviting us', headed home as fast as we could.

We're going to be grounded for sure.
