Chapter Fifteen

Recap:

He walks us out to the police car, where a hock lies before us.

Lindsey, the police officer that was taking Rick to the car, is lying unconscious on the ground, with a large bump forming on the back of her head, blood starting to flow. Rick is nowhere to be seen.

Miranda's POV

John gasps and kneels beside Lindsey.

I shrink away. I've seen too much blood for my taste lately.

I crawl behind the building to hide for a bit.

I don't feel safe with Rick loose. I want comfort from someone, but I don't know who.

I look at my watch. It's five thirty. I haven't eaten anything since breakfast. No wonder my stomachs complaining. I'm more tired than hungry, though.

And emotional. I hear footsteps approaching and I shrink away into the bushes.

It's Justin.

He sits down by me and pulls out a large sandwich.

I take it out and sink my teeth into it, bite after bite, not taking time to chewed swallow. He smirks.

"You know, food is meant to be chewed," he says.

"Yeah well," I blush.

He brushes a strand of hair from my face.

Warmth shoots down to my toes at his touch.

I look away. I have a boyfriend. I hardly know this guy.

I look back to him to say thanks for the sandwich, when his lips crash against mine.

I'm shocked and surprised and a bit angry but some of me is enjoying it.

He cups my face and strokes my hair.

"S-stop," I say, breaking away.

He pouts. "Why?"

"I have a boyfriend," I say lamely.

"He doesn't have to know," he says slyly.

Again I'm shocked. Cheat on Jake? No way. I loved him and he loved me. I just met this dude and he kissed me!

But he was a good kisser... NO! Stop it Miranda!! You are not going to cheat on Jake!

Justin smirks at me. "So you did enjoy that," he says.

"No," I lie.

"I can tell in your eyes. You want to kiss again," he says.

"No," I say. I need to get out of here. I need to get to Jake before I do something stupid.

"I can prove it," he says.

"Yeah well, I don't want your old proof. I've got Jake, and I'm not going to cheat on--"

He covers my mouth. "Shhh,"he says.

His grip is strong. This frightens me.

When I stop whimpering he lessons his grip. Slowly he takes his hand off.

I open my mouth to call for Jake but he cuts me off and kisses me again.

I try to force him off but he holds my hands back.

I refuse to let myself enjoy this. Jake was never like this. He was gentle.

"Justin..." I whisper.
