Chapter Twenty
I awake up and ind that Jake is not lying next to me. Hmm. That's weird.
No, there he is. With no shirt on...
I have to force myself to roll over onto my face so that I can't see him.
A hand is on my shoulder, and it flips me over, forcing me to stare at his mischievous eyes.
It takes all my willpower to stare at just his eyes.
He strokes my cheek, sending warmth down to the tips of my toes.
"Hi," I say lamely.
He smirks. "Hi."
Man he thinks he's all that.
"I need to pee," I announce.
"Good for you," he says sarcastically.
I raise an eyebrow and pretend to be stern. "Well, why don't you let this poor girl up so I can?
He rolls his eyes and reluctantly gets up.
"Put a shirt on while I'm gone, would you?" I shout, locking the bathroom door.
He doesn't answer, but I hear him laughing.
When I come back out, he has disappeared. Shrugging, I crawl back under the covers because the AC is blasting cold air and its freezing.
I doze off in a matter of minutes.
If anyone has ever wondered how long it takes for a shirtless boy to dive into a bed and wake a girl up, let me clear it up for you. Not long.
Jake lands next to me with a thump,
with so much force I literally am a foot in the air.
Growling, I tackle him hitting him as hard as my tiny hands can.
I can tell it's affecting him a lot by the way he keeps an indifferent face as if I'm not even there.
"Had enough?" I ask.
He rolls his eyes. "Oh please, my cousin packs a harder punch than you do. And she's three," he says.
Growling some more, I get off him and storm into the bathroom.
Well, I try to at least. my plans change when Jake effortlessly picks me up and starts tickling me.
"What is with you and tickling me?" I cry out, laughing.
"I don't know, it's just fun," he smirks.
"Now sit here and don't talk while I call someone," he commands, setting me on his bed.
I stick my tongue out and sit there, grumbling. Wait a minute, didn't he say something about not talking? Well, he never said anything about singing.
I take a deep breath and start on the first song I can think of.
"Dog goes roof, cat goes meow, bird goes tweet and mouse goes squeak, cow goes moo, frog goes croak, and the elephant goes toot--"
"What are you doing?" Jake asks, cutting off my beautiful singing.
I smirk. "Being a good girlfriend and not saying anything while my boyfriend calls somebody," I say innocently.
He rolls his eyes and puts his phone back to his ear.
"Duck goes quack, and fish go blub, and the seal goes ow ow ow, but there's one sound, that no one knows"
I pause, then shout as loud as I can,
"WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY? RING DING DING A DINGA DING OUCH!"
Jake tackles me, effectively interrupting and stopping my song.
"I wasn't finished," I mumble.
"Too bad. Look, Chase, I'm gonna have to call you back." he says.
He turns to me. "What does the fox say?"
I smirk. Then we shout in union, "RING DING DING A DINGA DING DING! RING DING DING A DINGA DING DING!! WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY?"
"Kids! What are you doing?!" shouts Jake's mom.
We stop and look at each other.
"Nothing!" shouts Jake.
I giggle. Jake's cellphone starts ringing. He sighs and answers it. "Chase, I told you I would call you- oh! I'm sorry ma'am I didn't look at the caller ID," he stutters.
I smile. His face is a beet red. No wait, the color is draining from his face.
"Ok. Thank you, I'll tell her. Bye."
He turns to me, and takes my hands in his.
"Patricia is conscious, and she's asking to see you."
