Ian's POV
I scrolled through my phone as I waited for Christopher to get back from the bathroom. Since we live in the same apartment complex now, we'd hang out a lot.
"Hey, sorry I had you waiting, Ian," Chris said, wiping his hands on his pants.
"It's all good mate," I replied, not looking up from my phone.
Christopher sighed and plopped down on the couch next to me.
"Still glued to your phone?"
"It serves as a proper distraction," I said to him, still not looking at him.
He sighed again, taking my phone out of my hands.
"Heyy!" I exclaimed, looking at him angrily.
"Mate," I could sense the seriousness in his tone as he held my phone out of my reach. "You have to talk to me. We're not hanging out for you to stare at your phone all day. What are you looking at anyway?"
He looked at my phone: Memes.
"Memes? Really?"
"Well if you want to talk so bad," I sighed, "Stop questioning me about what I'm looking at, and talk to me."
Christopher laughed at me and gave me my phone back. I sigh as I turn it off and look at him.
He still had a serious tone, matching his eyes, "So..."
"So," I liked mocking Christopher- I guess it was because he was okay with it. He laughed, and then his seriousness returned. Great. I guess I wasn't getting out of his pep talk.
"How do you feel? Emotion wise. How long has it been, a week?"
"I dunno," I muttered back to him.
"C'mon, mate," He has been urging me to tell him about my feelings ever since we first hung out after I moved out...
"I don't have to talk about it if I don't want to,"
"Your search history is next-"
"OKAY, OKAY," I gave up: "I don't know how I feel. I guess... Free? Like nobody's judging me anymore. But also..."
"Also...?"
I sighed and sat up, "All I know is that I don't regret it. I made the choice that I felt was best,"
Christopher didn't reply. But I could tell by his silence that he was more satisfied with what I said than me not saying anything at all.
"I mean there is one thing that has been annoying me though," I paused for a second, "My mom... she keeps texting me, 'when are you coming back?' 'We're sorry, come back.'" I said mockingly.
"She doesn't realize the amount of pain you went through because of them. Just don't let them affect the way you are right now." He looked at me with reassurance.
I've always been grateful that I have Christopher as a friend, I don't know what I would do without him, "Thanks Chris, but... should I block her...? I mean in the end, she's still my mom."
"Oh, block her mate, you don't need that type of negativity in your life."
"Okay~" I hit the block button and laughed, "Thanks, mate."
