When I woke up all I could feel was the continuous throb in my head

When I woke up all I could feel was the continuous throb in my head. I moaned out in pain, causing figures surrounding me to jerk towards my direction.

"Oh my god, Gia!" A familiar young-sounding voice was first to speak up, Jacob.

I finally sat up and rubbed my face, the tubes and wires attached to my hand poked my eye uncomfortably.

"Oh Gia.." Arms wrapped around me and the warm scent of pine and Nordstrom cologne filled my nose, it was Dad. Thank God it was Dad. The pain was all I could think about as the tears began to come and I brought him into a hug.

"It's okay Gigi, you're safe, you're okay." He quieted me and stroked my hair the way he used to when I was a little girl.

Another figure made their way to me, their dark brown hair all in their face and an awkward look spread across their features. "Hey Gia." They took their hand in mine. "Is your head okay? Need some water?" Bella, my awkward, crazy, clumsy sister.

"Bella!" My tears came heavier at the revelation. "Are you okay?!" I blubbered, almost incoherent. But my twin understood, at the rights times she always did.

She laughed at my worries. "Gia, I'm okay. You're the one with a concussion." Her arms joined Dad's in hugging me tightly. A warm feeling spread through my body. Having some of my two favorite people right beside me, even while my mind still reeled about the fact Victoria was back in town. They brought me much needed comfort.

Dad and Bella let me go so I could greet Billy and Jacob, but soon everyone became hungry and left for the cafeteria. Everyone but Jake.

"What happened, Gia?" He began asking me questions as soon as the door closed behind the group.

I was tired and I didn't want to answer any of his prodding. I opted to shrug him off. I diverted quickly, "I don't know what you mean."

Jacob scoffed at my dumb answer. "Let me rephrase this. How did you end up here? I thought you were going to get your parka. Then Paul found you in the fucking woods, passed out, bleeding everywhere! Explain."

I didn't know what to say, I hadn't had time to come up with a cover story and I was not going to tell him about how Cheyenne was actually, probably a disguise for an immortal vampire who loved my blood so much she tracked me down to suck more out of me.

"Where's Cheyenne? Is she okay?"

Jacob's eyebrows furrowed. "Who's Cheyenne?"

"Cheyenne. She's another cheerleader, she went with me because she lost her phone on the beach?"

"Gia, you hit your head. Maybe your Phoenix and Forks memories were smushed together. There is no Cheyenne here. But you still haven't answered me. What happened, when you went out there you disappeared for three hours and when Paul carried you out you were bleeding. Answers are what I want, not you deflecting the conversation to a girl who doesn't even exist."
