I couldn't believe I was in a girl's bedroom without making out with her, this is where she spent most of her time, I was surrounded by her memories. Not to mention I was sitting on her bed as she straddled my lap, all of her clothes on. This was a new record for me and it was heaven. I never wanted it to end. It was kind of my own fault it ended, after she described her distress I knew where I had to take her so she could feel herself think. Where I would go on my own when I needed the same, the highest cliff on First Beach. Also known as Diving Point.

I hopped out of her window effortlessly, I really should've been better at controlling my wolf abilities, but around her I forgot. Around her I felt normal, like a normal teenager again. Something about her let me relax, and I relished in it.

"Come on, Gia! I promise I'll catch you!" I tried to be at least a little quiet, as the adults gathered outside hadn't left yet. Unfortunately some of them actually weren't deaf yet and could definitely hear us sneaking out if we weren't careful enough.

"I'm scared!" she whisper-yelled down to me. "Are you positive you're strong enough to hold me up?"

"Gia-" I laughed through my nose, making my exhale visible in the early morning chill. "I can catch you. Don't be afraid, it's not that far and I'm ready. I promise."

"Count to ten, please, so I can prepare myself." I couldn't help but laugh at her again, she was so easily adorable, like she wasn't even trying.

"Okay, one... two... three... four..." I kept my eyes on Gia as I counted, keeping my arms outstretched in case she were to jump early. It was good thinking on my part as she jumped, squealing on her way down before I could reach five.

"Oh my God, that was terrible! I hated that so much, God why didn't I just use the stairs-"

"Shh!" I put my hand over her mouth quickly, footsteps were rounding the side of the house, right to us. I kept her in my arms bridal style and dove for the bushes.

"Yeah, I just don't know what got into me. I was so worried about her. I though something had gotten her, then she just wanted to walk up onto the lawn and like like nothing happened?" Chief Swan ran his hand through his hair as he walked past our position in the bushes, followed by Billy Black, Harry Clearwater, and my dad, Trion Lahote. They were all old and had been friends for decades before even Sam was born.

"There's something going on that she's not telling you," Mr. Clearwater chimed in. "I've been through this with Leah when she was a young teenager. It's the rebellious stage, it sucks. Big time."

"Oh, I know what's going on. She thinks she can go running around with your son." Chief Swan gestured to my father. "He's a bad influence on her! She was never this reckless before!"

That hurt me more than it should've, Chief Swan had always been cordial with me. Even though he was never outwardly nice I never expected him to say something so harsh about me, especially in front of my own dad.
