Victoria's newest identity was truly the worst. Somehow even more insufferable than Cheyenne. "Daphne" took a lot of joy in screwing up the cheer routines and giving me dirty looks. I wish she was really human, maybe then she could've died from the flu and would've never come back to be a pain in my ass.
"So, Giovanna. Long time no see." She had finally gotten me alone in the locker room, I was good about finding ways to keep either Layla or Wyatt around. But Layla got detention and was suspended from cheerleading for the week, and Wyatt was off being with his unnamed hookup. We were left right beside each other. Luckily, the room between me and the door was uninterrupted, allowing me enough space to sprint out of there.
I took my chance and made my way for the door in confidence --you'd think I'd understand Victoria's abilities by then, but obviously not. She intercepted me, a mocking laugh leaving her throat. "Why are you running Little Swan? I thought you weren't afraid of me anymore?"
"I'm not," I bit. I clenched my jaw at her tone of voice, she was still taunting me, even after she failed at capturing me and was forced to change her identity. No matter how much I proved myself, it would never phase her. "I just want to leave, let me out. I don't want to fight."
She let out another patronizing laugh, it struck me to my core. It irked me she though she was truly better than me. She was in some ways, she was stronger and quicker, but I was smarter, more resilient. I didn't care what it took. I wanted to get rid of Victoria, forever.
"You think this is fighting?! Giovanna, you stupid, stupid girl. I only use a mere fraction of my power when I deal with you, I could crush your skull right now, but I want to keep you alive. My plan for you requires your heart to beat, there is no blood singer without blood, after all."
"I'll kill myself before I become your blood singer."
She leaned into my face and scoffed, "You wish you had the gall."
"You have no idea what I have." I grabbed my duffel bag over my shoulder and nervously dashed out of the locker room, accidentally striking 'Daphne' on my way out.
Upon my frantic exit from the locker room I swiftly opened the door to Bella's truck, now deemed 'Gale' and plopped into the passenger seat. I slouched down in the seat, as if not being able to see me would hinder Victoria's tracking abilities.
"How was Edward? I.. heard he came back yesterday. I'm surprised you didn't say anything," I huffed out, looking over at her and cocked my eyebrow slightly. I hoped she wouldn't bring up my frantic gaze.
"I didn't want to annoy you like I did before. Surprisingly, he's being civil, talking to me and trying to make conversation... about the shitty weather." She rolled her eyes and shifted Gale into drive.
"He talked to you about the weather? It's heartwarming how he's trying to pretend he wasn't a total ass to us at the hospital. You hooked a real charmer Bells," I laughed at my own joke, desperately trying to dull my thrashing emotions.
