Chapter 13: Unlikely Friendship

Bei Da just got done brushing her hair and now she was looking for something. Macaque just sat there confused for the past 30 minutes until she spoke.

Bei Da: UGGGGHHH! Where is it? I knew that I had it around here somewhere.

Macaque: Whatcha looking for, kiddo?

Bei Da: I'm trying to look for the fabric that you gave me. I need to find it.

Macaque: Why do you need to find it so bad? It's just a torn off piece of my scarf.

Bei Da: It's not just that! It's special to me because you gave it to me!

Macaque: You think that it's special..?

Bei Da: Of course I do! You're my friend! We are friends, right?

Macaque: Um... Yeah, we're friends.

He didn't think that Bei Da thought of him as a friend. He thought that she just saw him as some guy that saved her. He does have friends, well only one which is Chang'E and he was friends- er, best friends? No. He was Sun Wukong's lover, but we all know how that ended up. So Bei Da asking if they were friends made him feel happy.

Bei Da: So do you know where it is or?

Macaque: Uh, yeah I know where it is.

The shadow monkey put his hand through his shadow and grabbed the red fabric.

Bei Da: YOU HAD IT????

Macaque: Yeah? To be honest, I thought that you didn't want it and I was going to just sew it back onto the rest of my scarf. But you can keep it, Bean.

*Macaque gave Bei Da the torn off scarf piece.

Bei Da: I get to keep this?

Macaque: Of course you can.

Bei Da: Thanks, Macaque!

Macaque: You're welcome.

Bei Da: Okay, so now that's out of the way. Let's do some training!

Macaque: Heh. Alright, but be sure to keep up!

Bei Da: I'll try my best!

Later that night...

After training, they made a campfire and ate some food. Eventually, the girl fell asleep and the shadow monkey stayed awake. Just staring at the fire as if there was nothing else.

"No..." said a familiar voice.

Macaque looked around and saw nothing besides the sleeping Bei Da. He sat down next to her and waited to see if that voice was going to speak again. He heard the voice again, but it sounded like as if it coming from someone next to him

"Don't leave me..."

The shadow monkey looked down at the girl. He had a surprised look on his face.

"What the?"

He realized that the voice was Bei Da! Apparently, she talks in her sleep sometimes. Macaque put his hand on her head and tried to comfort the sleeping child.

"Shhh...I'm not going to leave you, Cub." He cooed.

"No...Macaque.."

"She's having a dream about me?" The shadow monkey asked himself.
