"So could you explain to me why Macaque isn't here?" Bei Da asked as she tilted her head.
"I shoved him in the shower because he smelled bad." Chang'E explained.
Flashback!
"CHANG'E, STOP!" Macaque yelled as his friend pushed him into the bathroom.
"NO! YOU SMELL DISGUSTING! IT'S LIKE MULTIPLE RATS CURLED UP AND DIED!" The moon goddess yelled back as she quickly placed clean clothes on the bathroom counter.
The moon goddess threw her friend in the shower and locked the bathroom door after she left the room.
"MOONY! YOU CAN'T DO THIS TO ME! YOU SMELT IT, THEREFORE YOU DEALT IT!" He exclaimed as he pounded on the bathroom door.
"DON'T PULL THAT BULLSHIT ON ME, SIX EARS! YOU WILL NOT BE LEAVING THAT BATHROOM UNTIL YOU SMELL NICE!"
End of flashback...
"Anyways my dear starlight, could you pass me that wrench?" She asked as she moved her goggles off of her face.
Bei Da rummaged through the box and handed Chang'E the wrench.
"Thank you, starlight!"
"No problem, aun- Chang'E! It's no problem, Chang'E." The child said as she tried not to call the moon goddess 'aunt'.
She watched her friend work on a robot and gave her the tools when asked. Though something came to her mind. Chang'E's husband... Where is he? She knew that whenever she asked Macaque about it, he would dodge the question like a game of dodgeball.
"Hey Moony, I have a question." The child said as she started fiddling with her jacket's sleeve.
"What is it, starlight?" The moon goddess asked, not taking her eyes off the robot.
"So um...the other day you mentioned something about you missing your husband and I was wondering where is he at? Like does he live on the other side of the moon or something?" The little girl questioned as she tilted her head.
"Oh."
"I'm sorry if I said something wrong-"
"No, no Bei Da! You didn't say anything wrong! It's just that...my husband has been gone for a...for a really long time." Chang'E replied as she stuttered at the last bit.
"Oh! So then when is he coming back?" Bei Da asked.
"Um...well uh you see Bei Da, he um... he can't." The older woman nervously answered.
"Huh? How come?"
"Erm... He's um... he's deee...DEFINITELY not allowed on the moon because the Jade Emperor was a pain in the neck and banished me here!" The moon goddess explained as she tried to avoid the fact that her husband was dead.
"What?! That's so sad!" The child exclaimed.
"Mhm. I miss him a lot-"
She was cut off by the child hugging her.
"You don't deserve that, Chang'E." Bei Da said with a hint of sadness in her voice.
The moon goddess had no idea what to say so she just accepted the hug, ignoring the fact that she was very dirty from working.
