How did he end up here? Lying on the filthy dirt in the middle of a giant crater, surrounded by his own blood. His once perfect vision was destroyed by someone he once loved with all his heart. Everything he worked for was destroyed. He wanted his lover back. That's all he wanted. He didn't care about the brotherhood, the only thing he cared about was Wukong staying with him. He couldn't have that. He wanted to have that, but life had decided to make it a living hell instead. His vision was blurry, he couldn't see his lover properly. All he saw was an orange blob floating above him before everything went black. His ears on the other hand wanted to hear the next words to come out of Wukong's mouth, hoping that he would realize his mistake and somehow fix it.

"Macaque, I got your point! I'll come back to the mountain for a little while. Just wake up already."

"Macaque?"

"Macaque, wake up."

"Macaque, please wake up."

Empty promises to his lover were destroyed in flames surrounding the place that he once called home.

"Macaque, this isn't funny anymore. Wake up!"

"OPEN YOUR EYES DAMNIT!"

"MACAQUE!"

The black-furred monkey's eyes shot open as he woke up in a puddle of his own sweat. He let out a groan as he stretched. It appears that our protagonist has been sleeping on the couch lately rather than sleeping on a PERFECTLY COMFORTABLE BED. The moonlight broke through the window while Macaque remembered the 'final' words that his ex-lover said to him after their 'final' fight. He shook his head and went to get off the couch, but was immediately stopped when he saw familiar big brown eyes staring at him. His thoughts led him to think that the eyes belonged to MK. He let out a scream as he scrambled to the back of the wall.

"HOLY SHIT, MK WHY ARE YOU HERE?!" Macaque screeched as his fur poofed up in fear.

"Macaque, it's just me." Bei Da deadpanned.

"oh."

There was a moment of awkward silence as Macaque sat back down on the couch. His eyes adjusted to the dark and could kind of see Bei Da, although all he could see were her eyes.

"Sooo... What are you doing up this late?" He nervously asked, hoping that she would forget his outburst.

"I um...I had a nightmare about my sister and I was going to wake you up, it seemed like you were having a nightmare too." The child explained as she fidgeted with her fingers.

"Oh. Um, do you wanna talk about it? I can tell you about my nightmare if it makes you feel any more comfortable."

The child nodded in agreement. She sat down on the couch next to him and held her knees close to her chest. Macaque wasn't sure if she was waiting for him to speak about his nightmare first.

"I saw my sister in a coffin surrounded by flowers then she turned into something scary and got out of the coffin. I tried screaming and yelling in my dream, but no one heard me. She grabbed me and kept saying 'I love you' over and over again! I- I don't know why but she didn't stop! She just kept saying 'I love you' and then she started squishing me. It felt like my head was about to pop off, but I woke up before things could get worse..." Bei Da explained as tears fell down her face. She tried wiping them away, but they just kept on flowing out.

The black-furred monkey didn't know what to say, so he held her close in his warm embrace. The tears ran down her cheeks, small hiccups were all that Macaque could hear from the child. The six-eared monkey ran his fingers through her hair ever so gently. The tears eventually turned into sniffles and it was now Macaque's turn to speak about what happened in his nightmare.

"My nightmare was my fight with Wukong. I only remember the ending of it though, he kept begging me to open my eyes and wake up. I never did. I woke up, saw you, and screamed."

"That's depressing."

"Eh, both of our nightmares are depressing," Macaque replied with a small shrug. "Are you comfortable with going back to bed?"

"I don't think I can go back to bed. Can we cuddle instead?" Bei Da asked.

The monkey demon nodded as the child let go of her knees to wrap her arms around him. She rested her head on his chest while Macaque ran his fingers through her hair. Bei Da's hair was like fluffy silk to the touch. What's this girl's hair care routine? What kind of products does she even use??? The child's eyes began to close and drift off to sleep. Macaque's ears twitched as he heard Bei Da's small snores. He softly smiled before he carefully picked her up and carried her to her room. Macaque kicked- er... lightly pushed the door open with his foot. Closing the door behind him as he entered her room and tucked her into bed. He placed the orange stuffed cat in her arms. The black-furred monkey was about to stand up but was immediately pulled back down and landed on the bed.

WHAT THE HELL DOES THIS KID EAT TO BE SO FUCKING STRONG?!

Macaque looked to his right and saw Bei Da's sleepy smug face. Her eyes might have been closed, but her sleepy smile was like stretched-out number three. She held his arm and nuzzled close.

"You cuddly little shit." He whispered with a soft smile.

He closed his eyes and attempted to sleep, but the way he was sleeping made him twist and turn. It didn't help with the fact that his kid was using his arm as a stuffed toy to cuddle with. With a sigh of defeat, Macaque pulled his arm out of Bei Da's cuddly grasp, got under the covers, and wrapped his arms around her instead. She nuzzled into his chest as he was knocked out from exhaustion. The black-furred monkey held the child close to him. Well, that seems like a good way to end the- SHIT! THE EMO IS SNORING LIKE A BEAST, RUN WHILE YOU STILL CAN READERS!
