The chestnut brown eye was staring at him. It was watching him talk to the loopy Macaque, but why? Why was it staring at him? Was he hallucinating things or was MK actually here? Why would MK break into his home to spy on him-
The door creaked open to reveal Bei Da standing in the doorway. She was the one watching him. She was the one staring at him. Not MK.
"Oh, Bean! You scared me for a moment." Sandy said as he sighed in relief. "Macaque is a bit...loopy-"
"What are you doing to Macaque?" Bei Da questioned as she cut off Sandy from talking.
"I was talking to him. Did you want to talk to him first? I have to warn you though, he's acting a bit loopy so I don't think you can have a serious conversation with him."
The black-haired girl eyed him suspiciously. She gave Macaque a relieved expression before leaving the room. Sandy watched her close the door before turning to Macaque who fell back asleep. He pressed the back of his hand onto the monkey demon's forehead. The heat from Macaque's forehead met Sandy's semi-cold hands. It felt like he was touching a burning fire! Sandy pulled his hand away from the sick monkey demon's forehead. Mo began to purr while the terror known as Macaque's loud snores started. Sandy grabbed one of his heavy blankets, carefully placed the blanket on Macaque's lap, and quietly left the room.
He closed the door behind himself. Sandy went into his small kitchen that was connected to the living room. He grabbed a can of chicken noodle soup from the pantry and a pot from the cabinet. As he poured the soup into the pot, a certain someone cleared their throat.
"What are you making?" Bei Da questioned, giving the soup a small glance before turning her attention back to Sandy.
The child stood next to him. She kept her distance as Sandy put the pot of soup on top of the stove.
"I'm making soup for Macquack- Macaque." He replied as he corrected himself on Macaque's name.
"What kind of soup?"
"Chicken noodle soup," Sandy answered. "Would you like to eat some? I can make you something else to eat if you don't want the soup!"
"I- I'm not hungry, but thank you anyway." Bei Da replied. "I'm just making sure that you're not trying to poison Macaque."
"But I don't have poison."
"How do I know that you're not lying, Sandy?"
"Well, you could watch me cook the soup." The blue man suggested.
"I was already doing that, wise guy!" The girl exclaimed as she raised both of her arms.
"Oh."
The kitchen was quiet as their conversation died down. Sandy turned the stove on, the fire began warming up the pot. The black-haired girl watched Sandy's movements as he went to get a ladle to stir the soup. He returned with the ladle and began to stir the soup. The noodles and broth moved around, circling each other with steam rising. Once the soup was cooked enough, Sandy poured it into a bowl. He went over to his fridge and began to look through it.
"What fruit does Macaque like?"
"Mangos."
"And what fruit do you like?"
"Honeydew- Wait, why are you asking me what fruit I like?" Bei Da asked, raising one of her eyebrows in suspicion.
"I was curious," Sandy responded. "Anyways, does Macaque like honeydew?"
"He's fine with anything."
Sandy grabbed a bowl of chopped-up honeydew and placed the honeydew in a smaller bowl. He handed Bei Da the bowl filled with honeydew as he grabbed the soup and a spoon. The buff man went into his bedroom as the child followed him. Macaque was still sleeping, at least he wasn't snoring loudly so that was nice. Sandy placed the soup on the nightstand, unsure if he was supposed to wake him up.
"When was the last time he ate?"
"This morning."
"Oh, maybe I should have waited to make the soup then."
The black-haired girl said nothing in response. She stood and watched him, her gaze shifted to the bowl of honeydew that she was holding.
"Where do you want me to put this bowl-" She saw something. "WHY IS THE BROTH WATER FLOATING?!" Bei Da exclaimed as she quickly took a few steps back, one hand holding the bowl of honeydew and the other hand pointing at the floating broth water.
A drop of the broth was floating, but it didn't fall back down until Bei Da's outburst happened.
"I'm sorry! I got bored and messed with the broth with my water powers." Sandy quickly explained.
"Water powers? Aren't you a civilian? I'm pretty sure that civilians can't do that!" She questioned with her eyebrow raised.
"Well, human civilians can't unless they come from some sort of powerful bloodline. Demon civilians can have powers like myself! I'm a river demon."
"A river demon? Is that why your skin is blue?"
"No, it's a genetic thing in my family. Why else did you think my skin was blue?"
"I thought you were one of those uh...what are they called again? Oh yeah, cosplayers! I thought you were one of those cosplayers and dyed your skin blue." The child said as she held back a laugh.
"That sounds like something Mei would say." The blue man replied with a chuckle.
The laugh that she was holding quickly faded away after he said that. Bei Da stared suspiciously at him as Sandy's eyes widened to the size of dinner plates, realizing what he just said.
"Mei? Aren't you talking about the green girl who's friends with the Monkie Kid? How do you know her, better question, How do you know her name?" Bei Da questioned, her baseball bat was back in the living room so she couldn't threaten him properly.
"O-oh! Well, she does these livestreams and sometimes I watch them when I'm bored. She also comes from the Long family that's very well known so it's not that hard to know her name." Sandy explained as he waved his hands in defense. He wasn't lying at all, that's literally what he does.
"Hm... Alright then, waterman. What do you want me to do with this bowl?" The ex-hostess asked.
"That's for you! I know you said that you weren't hungry, but I still would have felt bad for not giving you anything to eat." The river demon answered. "If you don't want it, I can always give it to Macaque when he wakes up."
"Uh...thanks I guess? Anyway come get me if Macaque wakes up."
Just like that, she left the room. Sandy went back to checking Macaque's temperature.
Bei Da sat next to the closed bedroom door and hesitantly ate a piece of the honeydew. It was a pretty juicy piece of fruit, that's for sure. As she began to chow down on the green fruit, she noticed something.
A phone.
It had a blue case with a bunch of cat stickers on it. Bei Da finished eating her honeydew and grabbed the phone. The lock screen had a picture of Mo, but Mo's face was blocked by multiple messages from...
MK?
