"Dad meet Mitchelle. He's been helping me out since we found out about the micro-" Mitchelle cut me off
"Excuse us for one second." He got up and slammed the door pushing my dad into the hallway leaving us alone in the room
"Are you insane?! Your father hasn't even been a part of your life since you were like what, five years old? People like him who have been gone for a while don't just come back because they 'miss you'! There's a reason he's here Mary, and I don't think it's just because he wants to have a relationship with you again."
"How would you know?! You took every part of my family away from me and now you're pushing him away too. You barely even know me! Ever since you came into my life it's gotten more messed up!" From the corner of my eye I could see him looking out the window hanging his head down in defeat. I felt a little bit bad that I had yelled at him, but he deserved that. Didn't he?

I stepped out into the hallway to invite my dad back into the room now that Mitchelle was quiet, except he wasn't there. I looked frantically both ways and saw a glimpse of a man in a suit heading for the exit.
"Dad wait! Where are you going?" He turned around slightly, but not enough for me to tell if it was him or not.
I ran over to him and started to pull at his jacket but as soon as I did a nurse came up to me.
"Ma'am? Ma'am!" She looked at me with concern and her eyes drifted towards my arm
"What?!" I pulled my arm up for her to see, "Look I'm fi-" I quickly stopped when I saw it myself.
There was blood flooding out from the vein in my arm where the IV had been attached. I looked over my shoulder expecting to see the IV unit only a few feet away, only to see that it was more than 20 feet away from me and a trail of dark, almost black blood, followed behind me. Some others must have seen it too because there was a crowd of people starting to gather around me. I was so overwhelmed by the people around me I had forgotten about the man. Pushing my way through the crowd and the nurses, I got to the exit and found the man's jacket and a note. I opened the small note and read,
This won't be the only time you see me again I promise. I'll be back soon. I apologize for having to leave so soon, it is for your protection
- James Kosslyn
On the walk back to my room I started to pass by Mitchelle. He was following the trail of blood and looked at me. I then realized I had managed to rip the IV out, but I didn't feel a thing.
