"Didn't you feel that?" Mitchelle asked looking at my arm which now had become bruised

"No I didn't feel it at all. I only noticed when a nurse stopped me, but I wish she hadn't because I really wanted to see-" I paused. This was the same exact thing we had gotten in a fight about earlier, was it really worth another one? He looked at me impatiently waiting for an answer.

"My dad. I really wanted to see my dad before he left." He scoffed, " He left you as a kid didn't you know this was going to happen again? You can't keep doing this to yourself Mary. He hurt you once don't let him hurt you again"

I flopped on the couch, "Here he left a note."

Mitchelle's eyes widened as he read the note.

"He's coming back?? It was for your protection?! Mary doesn't that seem off to you? He left for a long time like 10 years and now he wants to be a part of your life again and he wants to 'protect' you?"

"I'm sorry okay?! Gosh I didn't think you were so protective of me. Newsflash, you aren't my dad,or my brother, and right now I don't even know if you're my friend or not. I'm so sorry my family is upsetting you so much. You can just leave if you don't want to deal with it. "

It was silent for a few minutes then I felt a soft hand on my shoulder, "I'm sorry Mary. I didn't mean to hurt you. I just want you to be safe because I-"

"It's fine. Just forget about it." I put in my ear-buds and pulled the blanket over my head and closed my eyes. Hopefully the music would be enough to drown him out for a while. After I had gotten over him taking me away from my family he seemed like a super nice guy. He always protected me, but never to this extent. As I thought on the music drifted me into a soft sleep.

I woke up with a note on the bedside table and a stuffed animal by it. The note read,

I'm really sorry I hurt you. I hope the teddy bear makes up for it. I'll be back at about 3. Stay safe.

                                                                                                                                                             - Mitchelle

I picked up the teddy bear and set it on the bed. It's body and face was a light cream color and it's ears a light brown. I acidentally  leaned on it and I reached behind me to move it when I noticed it had made a noise, like it was talking. I picked it up and squezzed it's stomach and a message played.

I went for a meeting with your dad. He stopped by while you were sleeping and asked to talk to me. I accepted his request and by the way I'm sorry if the bathroom smells "manly" I wanted to clean up. Please don't hate me. When we get back I have a surprise for you so make sure you're dressed in normal clothes.

A meeting with my dad and a surprise, what is he becoming. I looked at the teddy bear and hugged it tight. It was only 12, a few more hours of sleep couldn't be bad could it? I turned on the TV and a Hallmark movie was on. I watched until I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore and then drifted to sleep again.
