"So what's your name? You never told me." I asked the girl from my locker.

"Sarah." she replied quietly.

"Hey you should sit by me," I insisted.

"Could I?" she asked sheepishly checking her surroundings.

"Of course." I replied as we walked towards the cafeteria.

She stayed really quiet as we ate our food. She was a pretty girl, I don't know why she was so nervous. Sarah wore a blue shirt with blue jeans and converse and had a silver necklace on.

"Hey Sarah," I asked, "why are you so nervous?"

She looked at me with her bright eyes and then towards the floor.

"Whatever it is it's gonna be okay. I promise." I assured her while leaning towards her for a hug.

The rest of the lunch hour was awkward for me. I had never seen someone as pretty as Sarah seem so scared and alone. It was heartbreaking. We bothed jumped as the bell rang signaled the end of the hour.

"I'll see you around okay Sarah?" I said walking towards my locker.

"Hey Mary can you sit down? We need to talk." My mother requested as she stumbled towards me trying to catch her balance.

"What about? Are you going to tell me you're gonna," I paused as I saw a man standing in the kitchen.

"Who is he mom!" I half screamed into my mom's glazed eyes. "Mom, are you, are you drunk?" I could barely get the words out before the man spoke.

"My name is Mitchelle Clark, and this is not your family."
