Chapter 10 ~ Like Normal but more...

•MCKENNA'S POV•
"That's a good question Shawn. Why aren't I yours yet?"
I say replying to the little bit of conversation I just caught. I think Gilinsky sensed some awkwardness and he left the room saying "hey guys... im just going to the kitchen... you want anything?" When neither of us replied he left leaving Shawn and I in a growingly awkward situation. Shawn sat there quietly thinking about what he was going to say next obviously uncomfortable and nervous.
"Well... I-i honestly am not sure. I just didn't want the relationship we have now t-to be ruined." He stuttered slowly.
"Shawn. We have known each other for how long? How long have you liked me? Ok this is embarrassing but the first time I met you when we were at 'our park' I had started to like you when I saw you holding that guitar I thought oh my god, this is going to be a long ride. Then we were friends and I thought there is only one thing that will make this even better." I shly admitted
"And what was that" Shawn asked oblivious to the fact. I gave him one of the many looks I learned from Ash then he finally got it. He looked down awkwardly and then he said the words I've been dreaming of for ever "Kenz will you be mine?" I had the cheesiest grin on my face as I finally heard the words. Our eyes met and I knew he was finally going to do it he leant in and just before our lips met Gilinsky comes back with a bowl of muffins.
"Hey bro....." he drops the plate (thankfully it was plastic) and I could feel my cheeks burning hotter than the sun. Gilinsky trying to recover his cool, leans in the doorway and says "i should go..." just before he leaves the room he winks and gives a thumbs up to Shawn. If i thought that I was blushing before...
After Gilinsky left the awkwardness only lasted a little while we soon picked up two of his guitars and did what we always do.
Before he could start playing anything I asked him a question.
"Shawn, will you play the song you were playing before to Gilinsky for me please?" He blushed a tiny bit before asking "How much did you hear before?"
"Not enough" I reply with a grin. He nodded and started to play.
He went through the first verse and trust me I was craving craving him. After so long it hasn't fully sunk in that he's now mine. I listen some more and before too long he's not singing anymore or holding his guitar, but kissing me. I had almost forgotten that we were interrupted before. As he pulls away he asks me
"Why did it take me so long?" he says still a little unsure of if he's doing anything right.
"I dont know. Why did it take you so long" I giggle back.
"Are we really going to do this all over again"
"I hope not because last time we got interrupted" He laughs at that and then I laugh too. Really nothing has changed except that I finally got that kiss.
"So I wrote a song for you ages ago. Do you want to hear it?" I have written a song for him. I have many of them but they're all way too embarrassing but I can't let him be the only one with a sappy love song so I need one now. I start with a simple G chord then moving onto a D and then an Em and C and strum this randomly till he starts to play along. He picks up on the fact that I don't have any lyrics prepared and takes the lead. He sings and then I sing and we are in perfect harmony.
Before too long we have written multiple songs and are now just jamming to the first song that comes into our heads. I look at the clock and realize that it's 3 am.
"Shit" I swear.
"What is it" Shawn asked panicked. "It's 3am" I tell him not really believing it myself.
"Oh wow it is too" he replies looking at his phone.
"I better get going" I say just as I start to gather my things and leave.
"WAIT" Shawn yells out.
"What's up?"
"Well what if you... Maybe? stay the night? Its way too dangerous to go out now" He kindly and nervously offers
"Um.... I guess" I place my things back down and quickly text my Mum to make sure she's still not waiting up. Then I go and lay down next to Shawn on his bed and he wraps his arms around me, I sink into his chest. I suddenly feel safe and tired. Just before I close my eyes I look up into his eyes and ask,
"Shawn, what are things going to be like now?" he grins and replies.
"Like normal but more..."
