All I could think was how stupid it was that I had asked June out on a date.

I knew we had a past, through bits and pieces of memory that came back to me in flashes while I slept, and I was 78% sure it was romantic (or maybe I was just a very imaginative teenager).

To say the least, I was nervous.

If, in fact, I was correct in assuming there was a bit more to the June and Daniel scenario, then this date could be a blessing. Or maybe a curse. I didn't have a goddy clue.

"You look like you just ate a lemon." Eden says, eyeing my face through the full length mirror.

"I don't know if I should go for fancy, casual, or fancy casual." I reply, struggling while tying a red tie. My black shirts collar gets in the way of my vision. I sigh. Eden laughs at the spectacle.

"This seems to be working just fine." He says, plopping himself on my bed. I make an annoyed scowl, which makes him laugh harder.

"Do you know how to do this?" I hand Eden the tie.

"John taught me while you were of wreaking havoc across the country." He flips it around my neck, does some confusing knot and and analyzes it with an engineers eyes. To him it must seem like another puzzle that he has solved. "Looks good to me." He shrugs.

I playfully ruffle his hair. "When did you become a man?"

He motions for me to lean down and cups his hands around my ear. "I learned how babies are made." He whispers.

I laugh. "Maybe you could call Tess and check out her butt while I'm out. If you wanted, you could even talk about babies."

"I'm practically blind, brother."

"But no man is that blind, yeah?"

Eden taps his chin in mock thought. "I suppose not." I smile at him.

My watch beeps twice, practically beaconing me to look at it. "I got to go on my..."

"Date?"

"Right. Date." I say, trying out the new and foreign word. I dated girls in Antarctica, but none of them really had meaning. My "relationships" would usually last only about a week or two, if that. Eden had only had one girlfriend, when he was about 13. She didn't even really qualify as a girlfriend, just a "flirtationship" he had picked up. He did say she was his first kiss though...

"Go get her tiger!" Eden says enthusiastically, putting his arm around my neck and leading me out the door. He pushes me out into the cold spring air and shuts the door. Immediately after I hear the familiar beep of the phone dialing and after a few seconds, Eden's muffled voice saying, "Tess? Uh, hi. What are you up to?" I smile down at the ground and continue down the stairs, walking down the street to June's house.

I knock on the door three times.

What if she left? What if she doesn't want to go? Why was I so blunt? Didn't even give her a giddy chance to answ-

"Hi Daniel."

I wipe the scowling look off of my face, hoping she didn't see. I smile. "Hello June. Are you ready?"

She smiles. I feel the tips on my ears grow hot. "Yes. Let me just grab my purse."

I lean against the doorframe while she goes back inside, trying to recover from the way she looked, which is absolutely stunning. Black leggings, a black leather jacket with a diagonal zipper, black heels that lace up, he hair in a high ponytail, sleek and smooth, with, from what I could tell, only mascara and gloss on. Absolutely stunning.

She shows back up and steps outside. "So, Danny, where to?"
