Chapter Ten June

I wake up amongst a sea of white. The familiar smell of Day wafts up my nose, causing me to naturally sink deeper into the duvet. I had left the window open last night. Little droplets of rain sit on the sill, collected into tiny puddles. I throw my legs over the bed and and walk over to wipe them off onto the street.

I hadn't changed from the date last night, so I had borrowed one of Day's shirts and snuggled up in it. The hem came down to the middle of my thighs, but I didn't mind. God, he smelled so good.

A light knock at the door announced the devil himself, hair disheveled from sleeping on the couch, in grey sweatpants with his shirt off.

"Um, everything okay?"

I averted my eyes from his stomach (practically washboard, may I add.)

"No."

"Nice shirt."

My cheeks burst in flame. "Sorry."

"It looks good on you."

"Well I wouldn't bother putting one on." I burst. Oh. My. God.

He smirks, walking over to his dresser, the one I had pulled it out of the night before. "I'll keep that in mind." He says, pulling a blue Antarctican shirt over his head. His eyes pop out like sapphires as soon as it's settled over his head. Funny thing what color can do.

Suddenly I feel a draft go through the bottom of the shirt and to my underwear. Oh yeah. I took off my pants.

"Coffee?" He asks.

"Yeah. Um, can I borrow some pants?" He looks down at my legs.

"I wouldn't bother putting some on." He grins.

"Daniel."

"June."

I fold my arms across my chest. "Please."

He chuckles and goes to a drawer, pulling out sweats almost identical to his, and throws them to me.

"Thank you." They look way to big, but I bundle them up in my arms and head to the bathroom.

"I wouldn't go in there if I were you."

I whip around. "Why?"

"Tess and Eden have some wicked hangovers going on in there."

"Then where should I...."

"Just do it. I'll turn around." He does, and again I can see his back muscles through the shirt. He pretends to look back at me.

"No peeking!" I say, shoving my right leg into the pants. The left follows. Day covers his eyes with his hands. Four inches of extra material still sit at the end. I grumble and roll them up. "Okay, I'm done."

He removes his hands and turns back around. He starts to laugh. "You look terrible."

"Well what else am I supposed to wear?"

He arches an eyebrow.

"Don't answer that."

The coffee machine dings. "I'll go get that. Help yourself to the tv."

I throw myself onto the couch with great gusto. He shakes his head and grabs two mugs.

The remote in hand, I flip onto a gossipy news station.

"Reports say Ms. June Iparis was seen on a date with, get this, the newly arrived Daniel Altan Wing. Everyone knows of their tragic love story ten years back, and how they were deeply involved with the rebel plot to bring down the Republic. When Day lost his memory, and moved to Antarctica, the Republic's sweetheart moved on to our very own Elector, Anden. They had a very, might we say heated," She winks. "Relationship, until yesterday when Anden himself broke it off on national tv. Sources say June had no idea of the breakup until he couldn't say it to her face, but instead the whole country."

"But is Anden really all to blame?" Blurry pictures of Day and I running, hand in hand, smiles on both of our faces pop up on the screen. "Mr. Wing and Ms. Iparis were seen at the Street Style restaurant in downtown Ruby Sector. Such a quick rebound for such a small girl!"

"But wait, there's more! June was seen last night driving to Day's house, and she still hasn't come back out." The screen switches to a reporter right outside of Day's apartment. "June "Scandalous" Iparis was seen entering the building late last night. Sources say she left, to drop off some drunk partygoers, but then came back, all over Day!" A blurry picture of me hanging onto Day pops up, from when I tripped on the stairs and he caught me. From the angle it was taken, it did look like we were making out. "We will be on the sight until we see her, to give you more news of this years biggest scandal."

I snap the TV off, tears streaming down my face. The media had been in practically my whole life, and had said some pretty hurtful things, but nothing as awful as that. "They're calling me a slut!" I cry.

"June, June, it's fine, really. They don't understand. It's just a newscast with all their facts wrong." He says, grabbing my hand.

I pull away. "But it's true! That has to be the worlds quickest rebound!"

"June Iparis. Do you really think I'm the rebound?"

As conceited as he sounds it's true. I've never stopped loving Day. "No." I whimper.

Day sits back, eyes fighting their own battle, until suddenly my head is in Day's hands. He slowly and deliberately kisses each of the tears on my cheeks.

"I-"

"Shh." He moves on to my nose, forehead, and finally makes his way to my lips. This kiss is much more meaningful than the one last night. That one was quick and awkward, because neither of us was prepared for it. This one is slow and gentle. Day's hand moves up to my jaw, tilting my chin up so my lips fit perfectly with his.

"I missed you so damn much." He says, forehead on mine.

"I missed you too." I kiss him where his jaw ends and his ear begins, the most vulnerable spot on his face.

"Um, what are you two doing?"
