"June!"

"Tess, the way this whole spinning thing works is to not fall down." I laugh.

"Here Tess, let me show you." Anden says, taking my hands from her and leans back as I do the same, spinning around and around in circles. He smiles as I duplicate the motion, laughing for the first time in months. Anden stops and leans in to kiss me. I kiss him back and sigh a little.

"Oooooh, Anden and June sitting in a tree...." Tess teases. Anden just pushes her away and kisses me even more passionately. I sigh once more.
I am the first to break away. "I should go home." I say.

"But you are home." He says, gesturing in the general direction of his room.

"No, I'm not." I say, suddenly somber.

"Can we not do this again June." I see Tess sneak out the door as Anden and I begin another one of our arguments. "Day is gone."

"How can you say that Anden? He's here now!"

"Day left the moment Jameson pointed her gun at him."

I try to keep a calm look on my face, but inside my anger is boiling hot.

"Stop acting like he's coming back June. For once, can't you be happy with what you have?"

Anden." My tone softens. "Of course I'm happy."

"If you were you wouldn't keep imagining I was him, now would you." It wasn't a question. And I knew he was right. "You can go now Commander Iparis."

"Anden-" I begin.

"That's Elector to you." He looks as though I am just another one of his soliders, and opens the door for me to leave.

I close the Electors building door behind me as I enter the streets. Rain poors down in sheets, fitting my mood. Although my apartment is close, I take the long way, looping around the Ruby sector, so I walk past the apartment building where 'Daniel' and Eden Wing live. 5 stories up, 3 windows from the right facing the street is their apartment. He's there, the lights on, rain running down the window in a million little rivers. The water landing on the pavement like little whispers from Metias saying Your so close, Junebug.

The solider in me is saying to leave, but the love sick seventeen year old girl is saying to ride that elevator up and tell him everything. How I unintentionally murdered his mother and brother. About that night we shared in my room. About how long I had waited for him to come back to me. About how every time I kissed Anden I thought of him. Let all of the emotions I had kept bottled in side out like the rain tonight.

Pitter patter Day is dead pitter patter

I suck in a breath. He's there. In the window. I can see his outline. His cropped hair, his broad shoulders, his hands, the slight curve of his hips, until the rest of him disappears behind the window sill.

He sees me. I can see his blue eyes from here. I can imagine the imperfection in his right eye. I stare back. Day- Daniel, tilts his head quizzically, but holds my gaze. We sit there for awhile, two people that have known each other for years, yet are total strangers. One in the safety of his house, the other soaking wet outside.

Daniel suddenly shuts the curtains. I release the breath I didn't realize I was holding in. Disappointment settles in.

Goddy June, I think to myself. Your with Anden.

Are you though?

All we do is argue.

And whenever you kiss him you imagine it's Daniel.

That too.

I linger for a moment, looking at the drawn curtains. And then I leave to go to my apartment.
