I'd been sitting alone at home watching on the television as the news and police scrambled to try and find out what happened just a week ago. Currently from what was reported they had no leads on what really went on, guesses ranging from random gain activity on the saner side of the news, to an alleged conspiracy by the government to have Paul killed. I could only imagine the look on their faces when they realized it was a fifteen year old who did most of the killing that day. I had seen Eddy since then as he had congratulated me on the mission completed by dropping off my check and an extra box of bullets courtesy of Peterson to pay back the extra I used to rescue one of his best assets.
It was late into the night, nearing midnight which made it extra peculiar when I got a call to my phone. Picking up the phone I checked who was calling and it just said no caller ID, being interested in who it could be I answered the call. Putting the phone to my ear and speaking up first. "Kit, who's this?" There was a few seconds of silence after this, prompting me to make sure the call hadn't failed when I heard a voice on the other end, not quite clear and little raspy but it definitely was recognizable once I heard his name.
"Kit, It's albatross. I want to meet up tonight if you've got time, definitely some fast money in it if you're interested." I turned off the tv hearing this, sitting up in my seat.
"You've got my attention Albatross."
"Perfect, I'll head your way now then. I'll give you the specifics once I get there, grab my tool if you've still got it too." I looked over to the rifle that was sitting on the table in front of me, freshly cleaned and ready to go.
"Roger that Albatross, I'll be waiting. Just go to the front of the Classic Villa apartments, I'll be there." After this I hung up the phone and stood up to get ready, grabbing my .45 off of the table, putting the holster on my belt. Grabbing the AK I put the magazine in pocket before folding the stock over the side of the weapon. Lastly I threw a black snap up jacket on for easy access, putting the shortened rifle into my coat, using the tension to hold it in place.
Soon I had finished all my preparations and was standing by the road, just waiting for the car to pull up. Eventually a dark blue almost black car pulled up in front of me and the man inside reached across the car to push the door open for me. "Hop in, we're going for a ride." I got inside quickly, closing the door behind me before pulling my jacket off and setting the rifle in the back. Albatross had a cast on his left arm.
Seeing his injury prompted me to question his readiness, presumably he only got out of the hospital recently. "You sure you're ready for a job? Not like you don't have the money to take a rest." I said referencing the top dollar car he was driving, that apparently was worth so little he was willing to risk getting it damaged on a job.
He laughed at my worry, nodding quickly. "Course, it'll take more than a broken arm to stop the Albatross. But it's not about me getting money it's about thanking you for your work back on that job. Real smart making sure the police have nobody left behind dead or alive. Plus saving the boss a lot of money, good shit." While that's not why I did it, it wasn't something worth arguing over. "Speaking of money, I'm sure you want to know the mark." I nodded as he looked over and said this. "We're disrupting a drug deal, a kilo at least on the table. Street value of twenty bands with how much we can price it. Pure shit too, if they sold it it'd be forty probably, but we want it all gone fast so we'll have to sell it a bit less. You don't have to worry about that though, I've got some guys that can take care of that. But all said and done with expenses taken into account you can probably take about five thousand, not bad for twenty minutes of work, if that." Easy enough job, on the surface any way. I felt like there was a catch but there's very little I couldn't handle. Then he asked a follow up question. "You're almost sixteen right? Alternatively we could use that money to get you your own ride. Up to you"
