Once I was sure the money had made it to my sister I began doing my job. I knew that this would be one of the most risky jobs I could take, I knew state and federal investigators would be after me when I went through with this. I knew that something felt wrong about the entire situation, but even so it was my job, my responsibility to execute the plan. That's my purpose, I'm a tool of destruction who has one single skill and one single purpose. It didn't matter what went wrong during the task or what danger I was in, even if I had to die the task will be completed.
In the days leading up to the assassination I had circled the area at least a dozen times, looking for the absolute perfect place to complete the mission, as well as any detriments and dangers that would be waiting for me once I took the shot. I found my spot nearly half a mile away, I was able to walk inside unimpeded and nobody seemed to much care as I walked around the nearly completely silent church. It had a bell tower which had clearly gone unrung by the amount of dust that I found at the top of it, but it was just perfect for my purposes. The windows opened giving me a line of sight to the square seven hundred yards north of this position, watching between a line of buildings giving me a narrow several foot opening to where my target would be. I would be able to stabilize my rifle on the ledge of the railing up the stairs and fire through the window around the bell. Thankfully the speech would take place on a Friday meaning that nobody was likely to be in the church except for me.
The week leading up to the assassination came and went quickly and I continuously reviewed my plan until the time came. An hour before the speech I got into the church, carrying three weapons. I kept my .303 rifle which I would be using to carry out the job with me, only bringing one clip of five rounds as I won't be needing any more. I brought my suppressed .22 pistol with me which I kept concealed on my waist at all times.
I still had my worries about this though, that one man in the office I knew I couldn't trust putting the thought in my mind that this was all a setup. That even if I was able to execute the mayor there would be a hundred police right outside of my location just waiting, because they were expecting me. As always though, even if it was a trap I still had a job to do, a reputation to uphold, people to take care of. So the last weapon I brought with me was the new .300 blackout rifle I'd been gifted, if the police showed up then I was getting out one way or another. Whether that was through front door or in a body bag. I would uphold my honor and not be taken alive.
I made it to the top floor and stood on the steps of the staircase, setting the soft case of my rifle over the railing and stood, waiting. If there was one thing I'd learned it was patience, I watched through the binoculars as a crowd began congregating around the stage. I just continued watching. The first and second speakers came and went, but I just kept watching. No point in stressing myself over people who weren't my target.
Then the third speaker, a man stepped on the stage in front of everyone. Checking the picture I had I got a positive ID that this was my target. I put down the binoculars back into my bag as I picked up my rifle, setting the barrel on top of the cushion. I slowly and fluidly racked a round into the chamber before reaching my right hand forward, placing it beside the barrel as a slight support. My left hand very gently wrapping around the grip as my finger landed against the trigger. I took into account the elevation distance and the slight breeze before beginning the wait.
I remembered the request for a headshot so I had to wait for him to be still momentarily, and in time that opportunity came. Of course I couldn't tell what was being said but I could infer they were holding a moment of silence for something I could not tell. As evil as it seems in hindsight in the moment it was nothing more than a perfect shot. I slowly inhaled as I focused in completely, becoming entirely still as I reached the break in my breathing and I slowly squeezed the trigger. It was just under a second before I felt the trigger reach it's wall and pass through, my focus having been so intense that I could feel the click as the hammer hit the primer of the cartridge. Then I heard as the bullet left the casing and began flying towards the unsuspecting politician at over twenty four hundred feet per second.
There was a slight delay between the bullet being fired and the impact, allowing me to watch as the bullet struck him. A mass of blood and bone came from the back of his head, the bullet having landed into his forehead directly between his eyes. Dead before he even hit the ground, just the way I liked it. If I was going to have just one skill, then I'll be damned if anyone else was going to be better than me at it. I didn't wait any longer, only having needed to identify that my target was dead.
As soon as I picked my head up I put my rifle back into the soft case I carried it in and zipped it close quickly. Shutting the window before I grabbed the handles of the bag and began walking down the steps as fast as I could without tripping, carrying a rifle case and wearing a black balaclava there was no question that if someone saw me they'd know that I was the one that'd fired. For that reason I had no reason to be discreet until I got outside. While I moved I removed my hearing protection putting them into my pocket. As I was coming down the enclosed staircase though I heard the sound of someone coming up it. Instinctively I took my handgun from my waist and held it in my other hand.
As I turned a corner I came face to face with a priest coming up the stairs towards me. Acting purely on natural instinct I raised the weapon, not letting a single word be let out before I fired two shots into the man's chest making him lose footing and fall down the stairs. Tumbling for a couple feet before stopping on a landing, slammed against a wall. This didn't slow my progress, aiming back and putting one more shot into his head completing the three-shot drill as I kept moving. Making sure there was no visual witnesses.
I made it to the bottom floor quickly seeing no other liabilities on the way, until I got to the door to the main hall. I got to the bottom and I could hear hushed whispers and footsteps heading towards me, assuming the worst I placed the bag down and grabbed my cqb rifle from under my jacket. I moved back slightly, kneeling at the bottom of the stairs and leaning out keeping my rifle trained on the door. I heard them get closer and closer until they reached the door.
I saw the door handle start to move as I flicked the safety off of the rifle, looking through the red dot just waiting for the shot to appear. It was a second before they yanked the door open and as soon as I saw them I pulled the trigger, knocking down the first person with one shot before readjusting my aim and killing the second swiftly. Standing back up I moved quickly through the door scanning the area quickly for anyone else but it was only the two of them. Looking down I saw their uniforms and saw that it was two beat officers, though from their lack of preparedness they'd probably just heard the noise and went to investigate. That meant I had to get out, and fast as more would be headed this way.
I went back and grabbed my bag and moved faster towards the exit, getting out the side door. As soon as I made it to the car I threw the bag in the trunk and closed it, moving and getting in the front. Hiding the tactical rifle beneath the bag seat while I started the car, putting it in drive as I heard sirens approaching. Driving quickly through the empty parking lot I got out the back path shortly before the police made it to the front. I made it back onto the main roads shortly after to see at least half a dozen police cars driving with their emergency sirens and lights on towards the church, including an armored swat vehicle.
I couldn't say for sure that this was an attempted setup, but I could say for certain I was not going alone to pick up my money. They knew about the hit and my location far too early to be normal, if they had tried to set me up then shame on them for underestimating me this poorly. As much as I would want them learn the fault in their action they would not live to see the consequences. I either get my money that I earned, or him and every other person involved will see what happens when you try to rip off a member of the all vices crew, anything suspicious and nobody's making it out but us.
