Tokoyami's POV
I could feel the heat on my face now, as we were on the rooftop. Just a few minutes ago I must have been sound asleep, apparently Dark Shadow as well. Izuku ended up being the one waking us both up even though we were the lighter sleepers. Thankfully it was before the room went ablaze, I can't imagine what could've happened otherwise.
I hope a firefighter comes before we both become baked goods.
Me: Izuku. How long would we have before the roof is ablaze too?
Izuku: I think about 30 minutes or soo....
Me: Look for a way to get down lower... there has to be some side alley.
Izuku: Already on it....*cough*
Me: Dark Shadow... How far can you reach...
Dark Shadow: I have to stay close but maybe... 10 inches or so? Why?
Me: Can you get to that emergency stairway over there?
As I was talking I knew it was too late. The alleyway was atleast a few feet wide, the only way would to be jump. Unless Izu found something we would be literal toast in a few minutes. The rooftop was only the third story after all.
Me: Izu! Is there a ladder or stairs over there!?
Izuku: Nope.... Toko... is this it?
Me: I Hope not... If it comes to it we jump for it.
Izuku: I can try fly us down.... *cough* Tho you know how much I hate hights and I don't even know how.... *cough* but better than staying here I guess....
Me: All we can do is hope somebody comes to help us. Or hope that three stories isn't that hard on the legs.
Izuku: You kidding.....
Dark Shadow: He's got to be kidding...
I could hear the wailing of the fire trucks coming closer, but they still seemed too far ahead to be useful. It would take about an hour for them to get here from where they were. It was almost a hopeless situation, until I heard the sound of flapping wings and the voice of somebody nearing closer. It sounded right above us actually.
Me: Is it me or do you hear that too?
Izuku: Not me! *cough* Don't look at me like that!
Me: Dark shadow?
Dark Shadow: Not me either! Maybe look up sometime!
???: Its fine now! The dragon hero Ryukyu is here!
Me: WHERE?
Dark Shadow: I said look up you moron!
Izuku: Hate to side with Dark Shadow but how can *cough* *cough* you not see her!
As I looked up to see what my two companions were talking about I saw the figure of a dragon above me. It looked at me like a idiot while also grabbing Izuku and I up away from the building. I could see other heroes and emergency services entering the building and getting as many children out as possible. Though I could see many of them being dead or charred to a crisp. Some of the orphans even lost an arm or two supposedly from fallen debris.
Me: Izu... How many do you think got out?
Izuku: I don't know... *cough* consider ourselves lucky Toko...*cough**cough*
Me: Do you think it'll be on the news?
Izuku: Definitely idiot. Why wouldn't the only orphanage in the city be on the news after burning.
Me: ...
We were now landing on the ground as Emergency Services that I saw earlier arrived finally.
Finally. They took to damn long to get here
Ryukyu: Are you two okay!?
Me: I'm fine. Look at my friend here though, he was in the smoke more than me!
Izuku: *cough* i'm fine... I swear! *cough*
Me: Your coughing! And you were above me!
Ryukyu: Actually both of you are equally fu- injured.
Me: Fucked up? What do you mean?
Ryukyu: Hey! ...Nevermind... Its because it was a three story building. The smoke built up so that the first floor is filled with it top to bottom. The second floor isnt much better. It was smart of you to go to the roof, however. A window would have been a much better option.
Me: We didnt have a choice! Where *cough* else would we go? Izuku was right next to me! *cough*
Izuku: Its fine. Don't worry about it Toko.
Ryukyu: The firemen and Police will take it from here. Don't cause anymore trouble.
It was almost like she thought we started this. I could hear suspicious in her every word, however, It wouldn't be worth arguing about with a hero. Several people came over to take us and we ended up in the back of a police car, and before I knew it, on the road.
Me: Izu? Was it just me or did it sound like she thought we started this?
Izuku: I know right...Did she not see the fact that both of us are injured? If I did start a fire I wouldn't be this close to it!
