Sage
Before I could protest, I was wearing black leggings and a ruby-red sports bra, getting ready to fight Logan.
"Are you ready, Sunshine?" He smirked and took a fighting stance.
"I am not sure I have the physical abilities to fight you yet, but my anger sure does want a duel." I copied his stance, opening my legs a bit more to acquire stability.
"Remember, this test is only for me to examine your abilities, Sage. This isn't a therapy session to resolve your anger and sadness." Choufu's right eyebrow lifted pointedly and I shook my head. I was going to use this training as my chance to get revenge on Logan. To hell with the rest.
"Call it whatever you want, Choufu. I call it my time to kick Logan's ass." I cracked my neck which was sore from nervousness and focused my anger on Logan.
"With what abilities?" Retorted Logan from his place in the golden arena.
I winked at him, "We'll both figure it out. Isn't that great?"
"You don't even know what you are." He shouted, but I could hear his nervousness in the words he uttered. He was comforting himself. Not me.
I laughed. It was bitter and salty, dry from any amusement, "Makes it all the more fun."
"Logan, remember, don't push her too much. She might harm you both." Choufu's voice held concern as the air around us charged with anticipation and electricity. We both wanted to fight.
"Isn't that the point?" I questioned, my gaze still on Logan's figure. He wore black shorts and a white t-shirt that hugged his muscles perfectly. He shouldn't look this hot with clothes this basic. I willed my eyes to focus on anything else.
The arena looked heavenly. Gold patterns were everywhere: on the creme-colored walls and the ceiling. It was telling a story I had yet to understand. I was standing on a long, white platform in the center of the arena, connected to five bridges, each a different color all leading to matching colored platforms. The one Logan was standing on was dark blue and their crest was embedded on its wall behind him– the wolf. Another, red, with a silver sword with blood on it. The one next to it was dark brown with a golden tree on its wall. The one next to Logan was sandy yellow with a compass symbol. I dared to look at the wall behind me. There was a giant yellow and orange phoenix. Something warm filled me. I felt a change surge through me and I swore I could see the eyes of the phoenix light up.
Choufu gently nudged me towards the bridge with the phoenix on it. "This is your crest and your place to stand on." I hesitantly crossed the bridge, took my place, and turned back to face Logan, whose bridge was exactly facing mine. They had an amazing training arena, I had to give that to the Dukas.
"Are you ready?" I heard Choufu yelling from his place in the center of the rink.
We both nodded. I was ready to kick my murderer in the ass. I hoped that whatever power I felt while looking the beast of reincarnation in the eyes would come and help me beat Logan.
I took a deep breath.
It all happened so fast. I saw Logan making his way to me with his super speed. Flashbacks of the monster in the abandoned villa resurfaced and blinded me. Terror gripped my bones. My palms began to sweat. My throat closed. My chest constricted on itself. Stars filled my vision. I was losing consciousness yet again. Yet again, I was going to become the damsel in distress. I was going to need Logan and Nina and the Royals to get me back on my feet, as I needed them for the past two weeks. I didn't want that. I would not allow that. I willed myself to regain focus, but my eyes remained closed. I saw something yellow flicker in the distance. So small, so insignificant, so powerful. I grabbed onto it. It became brighter. Warmer. Made its way through my blood. I felt it tickle its way out of my skin. My eyes snapped open. I looked at my hands; they were glowing with a yellow light. I wrapped it around my body like a warm blanket in wintery weather and prepared myself for the blow Logan would give me. I closed my eyes.
