Sage
I was woken up by something wet on my cheek.
I groaned. "Azure. Stop please."
"But, everyone has been hectic in the house."
I looked at him, disbelief in my eyes, "It's my wedding today," I replied. He stopped short and looked at me
"Are you sleeping in on your wedding day?" He looked at me pointedly. He was a wolf. Reproaching me for sleeping. On my wedding day.
I sighed, "Things have been complicated between Logan and me and I needed time alone yesterday night, so I slept late."
"And did you figure it out?"
"Sort of. I need to go, Azure. Stay here. Your main focus is going to be on the castle. Listen in on everything. Especially the staff and the soldiers."
Azure nodded his head in determination. "You order, I serve, Your Majesty."
I gave him a gentle rub on the head and got quickly out of the bed, put on a robe, and dashed out of my room. I crossed and barged into the room closest to me. Logan's room. I opened the door to find him on the front of his bed, sitting shirtless, his head changing gears as he was overthinking.
"Sunshine." He said, his head still lowered to the ground.
"Bat. Are you okay?" I held my breath while waiting for his response.
"No." His voice held no emotion at all.
I couldn't handle this anymore. I ran towards him and sat on the floor, my hands desperately trying to get his face to focus on me.
"Logan, what's wrong? Please tell me."
"I can't feel your emotions anymore."
I took a step back. "What? I thought you blocked me out yesterday and I couldn't sense you anymore."
"I did block you yesterday because I didn't want my own anger to set ablaze yours. This was my safest option. When I came to put you back in touch with me, I couldn't. Sage, what is happening to me? To us?" His eyes were pleading, begging me to do something. I had never seen him this desperate.
"Do you think it's linked to Nathan taking your ability to read minds?"
"Maybe, I don't know. Sage, we have to do something. We can't marry nor mate if we can't feel each other's emotions." His eyes were pools of storms, waiting for us to drown.
"I have an idea. I'll let Helia heal us both. Whatever the issue is, it's probably coming from within. Maybe you having direct contact with Helia would help."
He was nodding more for himself than to me. "Yes, let's try that."
I closed my eyes and let Helia come out. She went straight to Logan, caressing and playing with him, but nothing was happening. I urged Helia back inside me and suddenly, it clicked. "Logan, we both have to share something from within us. Be vulnerable and trust me. I would never betray you."
He was shaking. "Logan, focus on me. We're going to be okay. We're going to get married."
"It should've been me comforting you, not the other way around."
I shook my head and smiled warmly at him, "No, we both are allowed to need the other, Logan–"
"Not nearly as much as you do. I'm the one who caused this."
"Yeah, but mine doesn't count because it pushed me to my full potential, unlike you who might lose their position of king because of this–"
"I told you before and I'm going to repeat it, I saved you and my future. I don't care about who becomes king. All I care about is you."
